Mimoza is my overall favourite hotel in Mirissa. It’s certainly not the most expensive or opulent hotel on this list, but they really do manage to get everything right.

In terms of value for money, Mimoza is really excellent. This place feels far fancier than its reasonable price tag would have you believe. I particularly like the little touches like free daily coconut water that just leave you feeling good and well looked after.

Everything is spotlessly clean and modern. The rooms at Mimoza are well-appointed and designed with comfort in mind. The beds, in particular, are some of the comfiest around.

Each room features typical modern amenities such as air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom. The decor is tasteful and creates a soothing ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the area.

The fantastic on-site restaurant serves a range of both traditional Sri Lankan and Western food. Mimoza’s Sri Lankan breakfast is one of the best I’ve tasted in the whole country. You can enjoy a huge spread of different curries, hoppers, string hoppers, rotis, fresh fruit, and coconut pancakes.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here who are more than happy to go out of their way to help you and make you feel at home. The hotel’s free WiFi is faster than in many other places in Mirissa.

The hotel is located on a quiet side street, within easy walking distance of both Mirissa Beach and Secret Beach. You’ll likely see a range of wildlife around, including peacocks and other tropical birds.

There’s also a peaceful rooftop sun terrace with a pool overlooking the lush green jungle.

Lantern Boutique Hotel (one of the best luxury hotels in Mirissa)

The Hostel Mirissa is one of the best hostels I’ve seen in Sri Lanka. Designed with budget travelers in mind, this hostel offers a friendly and sociable atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for backpackers and solo adventurers.

The dormitory-style rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. There are bunk beds with fresh bedding, lockers to store personal belongings, and shared bathrooms. Everything is spotlessly clean and well-maintained.

There are also several private rooms for those looking for more personal space. These private rooms are simple but perfectly comfortable, providing a good place to rest and recharge.

One of the things I love about this hostel is that they give you a reusable water bottle on arrival and offer free filtered drinking water throughout your stay. This is a really great idea given how much single-use plastic most visitors get through in Sri Lanka.

There’s a shared kitchen and several communal areas. You’ll likely meet travellers from all over the world here, and the common areas are great places to get to know your fellow guests and make new friends.

The hostel organises regular social events and activities, including barbecues, movie nights, and group excursions. These activities provide a fantastic opportunity for guests to meet new people and create lasting memories during their stay.

The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to assist with any inquiries or recommendations you might need. The location is great too, conveniently situated within walking distance of the main beach, the harbour, and the town.

Resort Deepika Mirissa is a charming mid-range retreat located close to the famous Parrot Rock, my favourite spot for sunset in Mirissa. It’s also an easy walk from most other spots in town, including Coconut Tree Hill and Thalpe Beach.

Nestled amidst lush greenery and just a short stroll away from the beach, this place offers a peaceful and serene escape for those seeking relaxation and tranquility, without breaking the bank.

The owners are particularly hospitable and welcoming. Breakfasts here are big and delicious, and there are several outdoor dining and lounge areas for you to enjoy the stunning sea views.

There’s also a swimming pool with a view overlooking the sea.

I really like the design of the whole resort. It’s spread over several levels and incorporates a blend of traditional architectural styles and decor.

The rooms at Resort Deepika are tastefully decorated, featuring a blend of modern comforts and traditional elements. Each room is spacious and well-appointed, some have sea views, and the beds are large and comfortable.

With its comfortable rooms, serene surroundings, top-notch service, and close proximity to the beach, this place is excellent value for money.

The Spice House is a characterful and unique upper-mid-range hotel located very close to the picturesque and photogenic Coconut Tree Hill. With its inviting atmosphere, rustic charm, and emphasis on sustainability, this hotel offers a memorable and eco-friendly experience.

The rooms are designed with a blend of traditional and modern aesthetics, featuring natural elements and earthy tones. Each room is tastefully decorated and equipped with comfortable furnishings, including 4-poster beds and hardwood furnishings, ensuring a cozy and relaxing stay.

This hotel is surrounded by a lush tropical garden, with hammocks, ponds, flowers, and lots of wildlife including monkeys and colourful birds. Breakfast is served on a large veranda overlooking the jungle, and the rooms have private balconies with views of the gardens and/or the Indian Ocean.

One of my favourite things about this hotel is the large infinity pool overlooking the jungle. I also like its commitment to sustainability and its focus on utilizing locally sourced ingredients.

The hotel’s on-site restaurant offers a wonderful dining experience, where you can enjoy traditional Sri Lankan flavours infused with aromatic spices grown in the garden of the hotel. The dishes are all prepared using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring freshness and authenticity.

You can also rent canoeing and snorkelling equipment from the hotel, and the staff are happy to help organise other activities such as guided tours of the spice garden, cooking classes, and day trips.

Despite being a stone’s throw from many of Mirissa’s main attractions, Spice House is tucked away from the noise and traffic of the main road. It’s a beautiful oasis of calm and tranquility.

Morning Star Guest House Mirissa

Morning Star Guest House Mirissa is a cozy and welcoming mid-range hotel situated between Parrot Rock and Coconut Tree Hill. With its friendly atmosphere, affordable rates, and convenient location, this guest house is another excellent choice.

It’s not quite beachfront (despite being listed as such on Booking.com), although you only have to walk a minute or so to get down onto the sand.

The rooms at Morning Star Guest House Mirissa are simple yet comfortable, providing all the essentials for a pleasant stay. Each room is equipped with a fan, air conditioning, a seating area, and a private bathroom with a decent shower.

The guest house has a communal area with comfy sofas, a TV, and a balcony overlooking the sea where guests can relax and socialize. It’s a great place to meet fellow travellers, share experiences, or simply unwind with a book or a drink.

There’s a garden and an outdoor pool, as well as a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. It’s a family-run place, and the hosts are particularly friendly and helpful. They’re happy to organise a range of activities such as whale-watching tours, fishing trips, and surf lessons.

Morning Star’s on-site restaurant serves a range of tasty Sri Lankan, Western, and East-Asian dishes, as well as freshly caught seafood. Many previous guests have praised the excellent breakfast here, which includes homemade bread and traditional Sri Lankan pancakes.

In addition, there are several local eateries, cafes, and beachside restaurants nearby where you can enjoy a variety of delicious Sri Lankan and international cuisines.

Beach Mirissa is another excellent hotel located between Parrot Rock and Coconut Tree Hill, on the eastern end of Mirissa Beach, close to the Fishery Harbour.

In terms of price and amenities, Beach is one of the more affordable premium hotels in the area. With its prime location, stunning ocean views, comfortable rooms, and quality furnishings, this is a fantastic upper-mid-range hotel on Mirissa Beach.

The rooms at Beach Mirissa are spacious, tastefully decorated, and designed to provide a comfortable stay. All rooms have large furnished balconies that offer breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, where you can enjoy the sound of crashing waves and some truly mesmerizing sunsets.

The hotel’s beachfront location is undoubtedly one of its main highlights. Guests have direct access to a private stretch of golden sand, where you can lounge under swaying palm trees, soak up the sun, or take refreshing dips in the turquoise water.

There’s an outdoor infinity pool with a sun deck – perfect for lounging with a book and a glass of something nice. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of various shops, restaurants, and bars.

Beach Mirissa’s on-site restaurant serves a range of quality local and international cuisine, including fresh seafood. The restaurant’s scenic beachfront setting provides a picturesque backdrop for enjoying meals and savoring the flavours of the island.

The Dale is a charming and authentic budget hotel nestled amidst lush greenery just northeast of the centre of Mirissa. With its serene setting, comfortable rooms, and warm hospitality, this hotel offers a peaceful retreat for budget-conscious guests seeking tranquility and relaxation.

It’s owned and run by a lovely family and consistently receives outstanding reviews on Booking.com. Previous guests often praise the fantastic home-cooked food here, and the hosts also offer cooking classes for those who’d like to make tasty, authentic Sri Lankan food at home.

It’s only a 10-15 minute walk from the main beach, but the whole place is an oasis of calm, tucked away in the jungle. This is a perfect place to stay for those looking for a peaceful, quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of central Mirissa, but still within easy walking distance of all of the town’s attractions.

You can unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings in the beautifully landscaped garden, which is an ideal setting for yoga sessions, reading, or simply sitting and soaking up the sounds of nature. You’ll likely see lizards, peacocks, monkeys, tropical birds, and other animals in and around the area.

The rooms are simple yet stylish and tastefully furnished, with air-con, a seating area, a private bathroom, and comfortable beds.

The hotel offers a delicious complimentary breakfast, and can also provide dinner on request. Alternatively, there are several excellent dining options within easy walking distance.

Overall, this is one of the best cheap hotels in Mirissa and would be an excellent choice for those who’d prefer to stay somewhere a little quieter and more secluded than the budget spots along the main road.

Peacock Villa

Peacock Villa is a fantastic mid-range hotel that’s also tucked away in the jungle just northeast of the centre of town. It’s quiet and peaceful, with a tranquil setting, elegant rooms, and a beautifully landscaped tropical garden.

The rooms at Peacock Villa are tastefully decorated, spacious, and well-equipped to ensure a comfortable stay. Each room has a big four-poster bed, air conditioning, a seating area, and a large private bathroom.

The decor showcases a blend of contemporary and traditional elements, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance.

The hotel has a gorgeous garden with lush greenery and colourful flowers. There’s a variety of seating areas and hammocks, making this a perfect spot to read a book, enjoy a cup of tea, or simply bask in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

It’s a slice of luxury without the hefty price tag and definitely one of the best hotels in Mirissa.

Kiss Blossom

Kiss Blossom is possibly the best value 5-star hotel I am aware of, as well as being one of the best luxury hotels in Mirissa. It’s located a little further away from the main town but is a superb (and extremely peaceful) boutique hotel.

Each room has a beautiful balcony with amazing views of the lush green forest and grounds. The rooms are huge, with excellent beds, luxurious bathrooms, and powerful hot showers.

There’s an attractively landscaped infinity pool in the garden. Right next to the hotel is a tranquil lake home to lots of wildlife – you can borrow the hotel’s kayaks and explore this.

At night, the hotel buildings, garden, and pool are all illuminated by a series of lights giving the whole place a sense of elegance and sophistication. There’s also a restaurant and a bar on-site.

This place has some really great reviews and is consistently voted among the best places to stay in Mirissa.

The Slow Vegan Hotel (a superb Mirissa Beach hotel)

A mere 100 metres from Mirissa Beach, The Slow Vegan Hotel is a very stylish boutique hotel. With its contemporary design, artistic ambiance, and emphasis on sustainable luxury, this hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Slow incorporates eco-friendly practices throughout its entire operations, including the use of renewable energy sources and locally sourced materials. The hotel also supports local artisans and promotes their craftsmanship by incorporating handmade furniture and decor into the hotel’s design.

Rooms at The Slow are thoughtfully curated, featuring modern decor and artistic touches. Each room is designed with a minimalist aesthetic, providing a serene and calming atmosphere. The attention to detail is evident, with high-quality furnishings, comfortable bedding, and a range of amenities.

All rooms have air conditioning, and some rooms also have private balconies with scenic views of the surrounding area.

The on-site vegan restaurant showcases a fusion of international and Sri Lankan cuisines. The food is incredible, and you can enjoy it either in the stylish ambiance of the restaurant itself or on tables by the beach. There’s also a bar that serves excellent cocktails.
