Back to Brussels

In November, it was again time for me to visit my Niece in Brussels. I enjoy Brussels and spending time with my niece is always a treat.

Cute hotel in Dailly

I arrived in Brussels on Wednesday and took a bus from the airport to the city. After switching buses, I arrived at my Hotel. My niece had moved since my last visit and this time, I booked a hotel just a few blocks from her place. The area I stayed in was called Dailly. The hotel, Ambiorix Residence, was in a lovely old residential building. The room was big and had a lovely balcony and a beautiful bathroom. The location was perfect for my needs and the owner was nice and friendly. I would absolutely stay there again. After I got settled my niece came to meet me and we walked to her place where we spent the night eating and catching up.

A foggy morning and lunch in French

The next morning, I headed out for breakfast at a place called Woodpecker in Schuman. I ordered The Baby President, pancakes with bacon, spring onions, and maple syrup, a cappuccino, and a ginger shot. Breakfast was delicious and after finishing it I strolled back to my hotel through a foggy city. Back at the hotel, I relaxed for a few hours before heading out to explore the nearby area. Eventually, my explorations led me to have lunch at Le Saint Georges brasserie. As the staff only spoke French I had to manage my order in French. It all worked out and I had a lovely salmon dish with a glass of white wine.

Visiting Christmas markets and a laid-back Friday

Later on Thursday, I met my niece and we headed downtown to visit the Christmas markets. We strolled around the markets and had some mulled wine. We also watched a beautiful light show at the Grand-Place. Later we stopped at a pizza place for dinner. It was lovely to see the local markets and try the mulled wine. The night ended up being quite long with us visiting a few bars and just chatting the night away. On Friday, I headed downtown on my own and had breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, a favorite from previous visits. Then I strolled around the city and did some shopping. At lunchtime, I met up with my niece and we had lunch at The Sister Brussels Café. Lunch was great and after lunch, we headed back to my niece’s place where we relaxed for the rest of the day.

On Saturday morning it was time for me to head back home. This was another great Brussels visit. Stay tuned for our January trip to Singapore.
