Joe Rogan is the Most Popular Podcaster in the UK According to This Chart

Podcasts have come a long way ever since they first started appearing about two decades ago. In that time, finding listeners has been a prime concern because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up driving revenue for podcasters. In light of this, a new podcast chart in the UK will be released every quarter, ranking the top 25 Podcasts in the region with all things having been considered and taken into account.

To absolutely no one’s surprise, it turned out that Joe Rogan topped the list during its very first iteration. Based on research conducted by a US firm named Edison Research, Joe Rogan’s podcast received the highest number of weekly listeners by a large margin, although there are also many surprise entries to the list as well.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Joe Rogan recently inked a $200 million dollar deal with Spotify back in 2020. This proved to be a game changer since it revealed just how valuable the industry has become since its inception.

Other podcasts that made the cut included The Daily by the New York Times, The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett, as well as Off Menu which is a collaboration between British comedian James Acaster and Ed Gamble. The data used to compile this report included interviews with well over 2,000 people that consume podcasts on a regular basis, all of which were aged at least 15 years old and who are based in the UK.

Major players like Joe Rogan dominate the charts, but in spite of the fact that this is the case, several independent podcasts were also able to maintain a decent listenership. For example, Goalhanger Podcasts had two separate podcasts on this list, which just goes to show that there is still some room for independent podcasters to get their foot in through the door. This can make the industry more democratic than might have been the case otherwise and help make it more accessible.
