Martin Luther King’s Day

Martin Luther King Day is a national holiday that honors the civil rights leader who led to racial segregation in America.

The United States Senate is expected to take up the House-passed bill Tuesday. U.S stock markets, many federal and state offices will be closed, leaving only essential personnel active for this historic occasion; however, most banks, along with restaurants/retailers that remain open, will enjoy an exciting day full of business as celebrating democracy!

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American minister and activist who became the most visible spokesman and leader in the American civil rights activity from 1955. King believed in his civil disobedience and nonviolent movement inspired by his religious beliefs and Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent activism.

Early Civil activist and minister Martin Luther King Sr. was his father. King led marches and participated in blacks’ right to vote, labor rights, desegregation and other civil rights. King won the Nobel Peace Prize for battling racial imbalance through nonviolent resistance On October 14, 1964.

Martin Luther King survived a knife attack once but Died due to assassination by James Earl Ray.
President Ronald Reagan signed a statement creating the first federal holiday in America to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. “Martin Luther King Day.” It is now honored every year on the 3rd Monday in January month.
