Former Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer joins Brill Power as Chairman

Former Aston Martin Ceo, Andy Palmer, has been appointed as the Chairman of Brill Power, a British battery sensor maker. Brill Power, a spin-out from Oxford University, has developed sensors that can monitor and manage individual cells in electric vehicle (EV) battery packs. This addresses a key issue in the EV industry, where the performance of the battery is determined by the weakest cell. Palmer claims that Brill Power’s technology can extend a battery pack’s range and life by 60%.

In addition to improving battery performance, Brill Power’s sensors can also assess the health of used EV batteries. This information can be useful for prospective buyers, allowing them to better understand the condition and expected lifespan of the vehicle. Currently, Brill Power’s technology is being tested in one upcoming electric model, and discussions are underway with several automakers regarding affordable EVs and high-performance models.

Palmer’s role as Chairman of Brill Power is to provide guidance in the commercial world to a team of talented individuals. Brill Power raised $10.5 million last year to expand its operations. Palmer, who was previously the Chief Operating Officer at Nissan and oversaw the launch of the Leaf EV, is also currently serving as the Interim CEO of British EV charger company Pod Point and as the Chairman of Slovak battery startup Inobat.
