How to Unblock DAZN Anywhere in the World

DAZN is chock-full of awesome sports content. Tennis, football, baseball, rugby, chess, cricket, UFC, WWE. The list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, if you’re a sports junkie who doesn’t live in the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Austria, Italy, or Switzerland, you can’t enjoy this wonderful platform. You’ll just get redirected to a landing page telling you the service doesn’t work in your country.

No need to give up and call it a day, though. We’ll show you how to easily unblock DAZN anywhere in the world with one simple tool. If you already know we’re going to talk about VPNs and are in a hurry, feel free to skip to this list of the best VPNs from DAZN courtesy of ProPrivacy.

First Things First – Why Does DAZN Even Geo-Block Its Content?

Why not just make all it’s content available worldwide?

Because the site doesn’t exactly own it. Instead, DAZN bought distribution rights to show various matches and events on their platform and it only bought those rights for specific countries – like Canada or the US, for example. If it didn’t buy them for, let’s say, the UK, it can’t stream the content there because the copyright holders likely sold the distribution rights to a different site or TV network.

So, it needs to geo-block its content to respect the agreements it signed with copyright holders. On the plus side, DAZN did announce it will be expanding to over 200 countries this year. It didn’t say when, though. But even if it does that, you’ll be restricted to your region’s content library (like you are with Netflix, for example).

The Easiest Way to Unblock DAZN Worldwide – Just Use a VPN!

The easiest way to describe it is as an online service that hides your IP address and encrypts your Internet traffic. The “hides your IP address” part is what helps you bypass DAZN’s geo-restrictions. That’s because your IP address tells the site what your current geo-location is. By spoofing it, you can trick DAZN into thinking you’re actually in a whitelisted region (like the US or Germany).

Here’s a quick overview of the spoofing process, so that you might get a better idea of how a VPN works:

  1. You install a VPN app on your device and use it to connect to a VPN server. The server has to be in a country where DAZN is available (let’s say Canada).
  2. The app and the server negotiate and establish an encrypted connection between them. Any data that goes through it can’t be monitored by anyone.
  3. When you visit DAZN, the app will send connection requests to the site through the VPN server. The server basically acts as a “middleman” between you and DAZN’s site.
  4. When DAZN gets your requests, it will see them coming from the VPN server, not your device. So, the site will only see the server’s IP address (in this case, a Canadian IP address). Due to that, it won’t display a geo-location error. Instead, it will retrieve the Canadian library and send it back to you.

And since your traffic is encrypted, you can binge DAZN as much as you want without worrying that your ISP will throttle your connection (lower your speeds). It might do that if you use too much data – especially when there’s heavy traffic on the network. But since it won’t see you’re using DAZN, it can’t selectively lower your speeds for it.

Also, here’s a really cool thing – the best VPNs for DAZN have thousands of servers on their networks. So when the service does launch worldwide, you’ll be able to easily change geo-locations to see sports content from any region’s library.

Slow Speeds? Here’s What to Do

VPNs are very useful unblocking tools, but they have one drawback – they lower your original speeds. It’s not always by a lot, but it can be noticeable and sometimes annoying. So, we will show you what you can do to optimize the speeds you get:

  1. Try a Nearby Server – If you’re not picky about the content, you can try using a VPN server that’s closer to your country. So if you’re from Poland, try using a German, Austrian, or Italian server instead of a Canadian, American, or Brazilian one. Why do that? Because the bigger the distance between you and the VPN server is, the more it takes data packets to travel between it and your device. So you’ll get slower speeds.
  2. Use a Lightweight Protocol – VPN encryption contributes a lot to slowdowns. The more powerful it is, the more your speeds will go down because the encryption-decryption process is more resource-intensive. The easiest way to fix that is to use a VPN protocol that’s more lightweight than OpenVPN (which is the default protocol for most providers). IKEv2, WireGuard, SoftEther, and L2TP/IPSec are all decent options. If you’re forced to use OpenVPN or don’t want to use a different protocol, use it over UDP instead of TCP. It’ll be faster that way.
  3. Watch DAZN over wired connections, not WiFi – WiFi is convenient, but the strength of its signal will impact your speeds. And it’s sometimes enough to be in a room other than the one where your router is to lose a lot of the signal. So either try watching DAZN on your device right next to the router, or connect your device directly to the router. You could also try getting a WiFi range extender if you can afford it.
