All You Need To Know About The New Samsung Exynos 2200 Chipset

Samsung has unveiled the Exynos 2200, the company’s latest flagship smartphone chipset, which will power the company’s upcoming luxury smartphones later this year.

The Exynos 2200, according to Samsung, is a newly developed processor built on the company’s 4-nanometer EUV node. It has an octa-core CPU design and is powered by Armv9 CPU cores.

There are three CPU clusters: one with a single Cortex-X2 flagship core, three with a Cortex-A710 big core, and four with a Cortex-A510 small core. In addition, the chipset includes a Samsung Xclipse GPU based on the AMD RDNA 2 architecture, which the company claims would provide a “console-level” gaming experience in smartphones.

Advanced features like as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and variable rate shading will be available on the Samsung Xclipse graphics processor unit. Inside the game, ray tracing models how light physically behaves in the actual world, whereas variable-rate shading can drop the shading rate in regions of the game to maximize GPU performance.

It also includes several additional technologies, such as advanced multi-IP governor (AMIGO), which improve overall performance and efficiency. It regulates power efficiency in order to reduce battery depletion when playing high-resolution games.

Because of the new NPU, the processor also has an improved AI. It can be used in conjunction with the image signal processor to help take more realistic photographs. The ISP supports 108MP in single camera mode and can record 4K HDR and 8K video.

In terms of communication, the Samsung Exynos 2200 includes a fast 3GPP Release 16 5G modem that supports sub-6GHz and mmWave frequency bands. There’s also E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity (EN-DC), which uses both 4G LTE and 5G NR signals and can enhance speeds up to 10Gbps.

It also has an Integrated Secure Element (iSE) for storing private cryptographic keys and acting as a RoT. (Root of Trust). The company also says that an inbuilt encryption HW for UFS and DRAM has been strengthened.

According to Samsung, the Exynos 2200 is currently in mass manufacturing. While not expressly stated, this chipset will power the brand’s future Galaxy S22 series flagship smartphones, which are scheduled to be officially announced on February 8th, along with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered variants.
