is this possible to connect UAV with ground station thru IPv6?

Today`s post is not related drone or project phases but it`s about communication between drone and Ground Station only.

The biggest issue that I`ve got with LTE connections base on IP4 protocol. It not so easy to get simcard with public IP for ground station and additionally it`s expensive solution comparing to regular sim card (without public IP). This is reason why I`m still thinking how to replace it and use something else.

OpenVPN works but I`m not testing it too much now. It require to host openvpn server on VPS and I think communication works more slowly that direct IP communications. Next possible soultion, UDP hole punching is not available for my tablet.

Since couple of weeks I`m thinking about migration from IP4 to IPv6. In case of TCP/IPv6 protocol operators usualy assign public IP to all sim cards so this solution can solve  IP4 related problems completly.

Yesterday there was first day when I tried to connect via IPv6. I have got an access to APN which assign IPv6 adresses to my sim cards and I can connect to web from raspberry and mobile phone using those IPs.

Whole UAV solution does not work yet (cmavnode/Mavproxy does not support IPv6 yet and I don`t know how to run gstreamer pipeline over IPv6 ) but I have recived first success ping beetween drone and ground station.  I hope soon or later I will find solution how to use this IPv6 instead IP4.
