Gateron Ink Black Review

Gateron Ink Black are Switches that are favorite by a lot of users. In this article, we have tested switches and we shall make a review and feature them.

Gateron Ink Black – Review and Overview

Gateron Ink Black switches are quite a bit more expensive compared to other normal switches. Though that is the case, it is worth investing on as it performs really good. Furthermore, it provides smooth and great bass sound on impact. Take in mind, however, that you will need to apply lube and switch film to the batch of inks. This way, it will not wobble as much and it will no longer feel scratchy. After applying lube, you would surely join the bandwagon of the community loving the Gateron Ink Black. We highly recommend this switch especially if you are looking for premium, smooth and creamy experience.

The Feel

The feel is everything you would have imagined you would want to have in a linear switch. However, as we have mentioned earlier, it could slightly wobble due to the imprecise tolerance and smaller sized stem. Though that is the case, just install switch film and it would surely fix the little inconvenience. Furthermore, keep in mind that with the smaller sized stem, you would have a smoother keystroke which gives you another advantage.

When you first unbox the switches, you would feel that they are a bit scratchy but as said earlier, just apply lube and it would surely maker it smoother and it would definitely improve its feel.

For the lube, we highly recommend Krytox 205g0.

The Sound

As mentioned the switches are quite a bit scratchy when you get it out of the box. However, after applying Krytox 205g0 to the stem, spring, lower housing and upper housing, the switch acoustics became shiny and smooth. You will not find any scratchiness at all after lubing the switches.

On the bottom on the other hand, you will hear nice bass clicking noise which will separate itself from the higher pitched noise on the non-ink Gateron switch. It comes with great sounds and with you applying switch film will definitely prevent the switches from wobbling.

We could say with the sound category The Gateron Ink Black switches are highly impressive.

Style

The Gateron Ink Black is very unique in terms of style. Its housing comes in smoky black color which looks like as if the ink was split inside a clear housing switch. The stem is jack black color which makes it look very stylish.

The Mods: Lube and Film

Through using a lube and a film, the Gateron Inks highly improve and brings them to a top-notch level. As mentioned earlier, we highly recommend, the Krytox 105g0 which we have found very effective in making the Gateron Ink switches smoother.

As for the film, we recommend a thinner switch film. With a thinner switch film, you will be able to reduce the wobbling of the switches.

Other Recommendations:

If you feel that Gateron Ink Blacks are too heavy, then we recommend that you check the Gateron Ink Red and Yellow. They have the exact build and sound but they are very much lighter. Though keep in mind that in terms of aesthetic and look, they would be different in terms of color.
