How to easily root Samsung galaxy S8


You want to get full access to your new samsung galaxy S8, well to get that access you will have to root it. So, credits to WCCFTECH for the tips and tools. This method works with CF-Auto-Root (Chainfire auto root). Remember you are to do this at your own risk , and rooting your phone makes it prone to device brick. Rooting has it advantages too. You get to tweak the device to what you want it to be.

Requirements and downloads

  1. Download Odin
  2. Download Chainfire
  3. Download and install USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy S8 on your computer.
  4. Make sure to take a backup of any important files on your smartphone
  5. Go to Settings > About Phone > Software info and tap for about five times to enable Developer options. You will get a “You are now a developer” message.
  6. Go back to Settings and now you will see a new Developer Options menu. Tap on it and scroll down to find OEM Unlock; enable it.
  7. Also, enable USB debugging option from Developer Options > USB Debugging.
  8. Ensure that your Samsung Galaxy S8 carries more than 70% of charge.
  9. First of all, ensure your phone model is listed below. To check your phone model,  Go to Settings on your phone > scroll down to About device > note the Model number.

How to root your samsung galaxy S8 and S8 plus(+)
  • Unzip the downloaded Odin on your computer and install it on your PC.
  • Unzip Chainfire zip file and likewise retrieve .tar.md5 file on your computer.
  • Power phone off and enter into download mode: press and hold Volume Down + Bixby buttons simultaneously and then press the Power key until you see the construction Android robot sign. Press Volume Up key once to confirm.
  • Open ODIN on your computer and connect your Samsung Galaxy S8 with your PC while it’s in Download mode. When connected successfully, you will get a message in Odin saying Added!! and one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow. [In case you don’t get it, try another USB port. If that doesn’t help either, then re-install USB drivers]
  • In ODIN, click on the AP / PDA button and select the extracted CF-Auto-Root .tar.md5 file.
  • Ensuring that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are selected, click on Start to initiate the root process.
  • When the root process is successfully completed, you will get a PASS message and ID:COM will turn green.
  • Once your device automatically reboots in the Recovery mode and install the necessary files, you will see the home screen. You can now disconnect your Samsung Galaxy S8.
