Dolphins sign WR Brice Butler

The Miami Dolphins announced on Wednesday the signing of wide receiver Brice Butler. The move comes as the team heads into their bye week with injuries to DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant, both of whom appear to have avoided major injuries but could miss playing time over the next few weeks. Butler filled the roster spot created when the team released defensive end Cameron Malveaux on Tuesday.

Butler was selected in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He spent two seasons with Oakland before being traded to the the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, spending three seasons there. He joined the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent this past offseason but was cut at the end of the preseason, re-joining the Cowboys in mid-September before being released late last month. In five seasons, plus one game this year, Buter has 73 receptions for 1,177 yards (16.1 yards per reception), with eight touchdowns.
