Tom Petty was born Thomas Earl Petty on October 20th, 1950 in Gainsville Florida. Tom Petty is best known and came to fame as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He also later reestablished his early band Mudcrutch and was a member of the supergroup the Traveling Willburys.

Along with his duties as a frontman for his band the Heartbreakers, Petty was known for his songwriting abilities as well as his producing abilities on many other well-known artist's albums. Tom Petty had many hit singles with the Heartbreaks as well as a solo artist and with the Willburys.
