Martin Keown has challenged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to continue to get the best out of Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba.
The former Norway international took over the reins of the Manchester United side from Jose Mourinho earlier in December.
Solskjaer has limited experience managing in the Premier League after a brief eight-month stint at Cardiff City.
The ex-Manchester United striker has enjoyed two long spells in charge of Molde after starting out as a Reserve team coach at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer coached Pogba during his first spell at Manchester United before the France midfielder completed a move to Juventus in 2012.
Pogba returned to Manchester United in a club record £89m deal from the Serie A giants in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old struggled to produce consistent performances in the Manchester United team during Mourinho’s two-and-a-half year reign.
Pogba was dropped from the Manchester United team for Mourinho’s last three Premier League games in charge of the Old Trafford outfit.
However, Solskjaer has reinstated Pogba to the Manchester United starting line up and the move has already paid dividends.
The 25-year-old scored twice in a 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town to take his tally to six goals in the Premier League this term.
Pogba followed up that performance with another two-goal haul in a 4-1 win against Bournemouth last weekend.
Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Solskjaer needs rebuild Pogba’s confidence and form throughout the rest of the season.
“Solskjaer needs to find a way to get the best out of him,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Pogba can’t do anything when he’s sitting on the bench.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard believes that Pogba is now regaining his best form under the interim manager at Old Trafford.
“Paul’s enjoying his football,” Lingard told the Guardian.
“He’s playing in the role he likes to play in just inside, off the left. He has the freedom to make things happen. He has always got forward in that position and scored goals.”
