Martin Keown raves about ‘threatening’ Man United star

Martin Keown believes Marcus Rashford was Manchester United’s best player in a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho made wholesale changes to his Red Devils team after Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Alexis Sanchez were dropped from the first team.

Rashford started in a central role for Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium, heaving being used on the wing throughout most of the campaign.

While the England international didn’t get on the score sheet, Rashford impressed with an influential performance.

Rashford had four shots on goal in a busy performance and completed the full 90 minutes on the south coast.

Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba stole the headlines with his assist for Romelu Lukaku in the second half.

Former Arsenal star Keown believes Rashford was the standout performer in Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth.

“I actually thought Marcus Rashford was Manchester United’s most threatening player in the first half [against Bournemouth],” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“There was one wheeling run where he showed incredible composure and clipped a ball to the far post which nearly reached Jesse Lingard.

“We know he runs at great pace but at Bournemouth there was a very good balance coming into his play.

“He played down the middle and that seemed to inspire Romelu Lukaku to impress when he came off the bench.”

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of Liverpool FC.

The Red Devils will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
