Bernard Hopkins to fight Joe Smith Jr in his Farewell Fight!

Former two division world champion Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KO) came out of two-year layoff to face the hard hitting WBC International light heavyweight champion Joe Smith Jr. (22-1, 18 KOs) on December 17 on HBO at the Forum in Inglewood, California as his last and final fight.

51 year-old Hopkins A.K.A, Alien is focusing on knocking out the much younger Joe Smith Jr,

“While ‘The Alien’ may be retired, the ‘Executioner’ has one fight left, and Joe Smith Jr., is going to find out the hard way how well prepared I am for my final fight. A lot of people will focus on my age, the history of my run in the sport, the titles, etc…but I’m focused on one thing – knocking Joe Smith out.” said Hopkins.

Hopkins last fight was in 2014 when he was defeated by Undisputed lightheavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev.

26 year-old Smith Jr won the WBC International light heavyweight title with a shocking 1st round stoppage over Andrzej Fonfara in June. He is currently rated as #2 WBC, #5 WBA, #13 WBO light heavyweight contender.

However is it still possible that Hopkins  to continue his career considering an impressive win over Joe Smith Jr. and could get a world title shot against the winner of the November 19 fight between Andre Ward and IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev
