He also came in second in runs scored, home runs, RBI, triples, and walks. Volpe was the only minor league player to have at least 20 home runs and 50 stolen bases. He was the first player to do this since Andruw Jones in 1995. At the Yankees spring training, he may play as a shortstop.

After the season, Baseball America named him the top prospect for the Yankees and the 14th-best prospect in all of baseball. The magazine also called him the Yankees’ “Best Hitter for Average” and “Best Strike-Zone Discipline.” MLB Pipeline ranked Volpe as the No. 5 overall baseball prospect, and MiLB.com named him an Organization All-Star. The Yankees picked him in the first round (30th overall) of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft. He is from Watchung, N.J.

All eyes will be on Dominguez

Dominguez turned 20 on Tuesday. In 176 games over two minor league seasons, he has hit .266 with 123 runs, 32 doubles, 8 triples, 21 home runs, 78 RBI, 99 walks, and 46 steals. His Yankees spring training invitation was expected.

At the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game in Los Angeles, the switch-hitter started in center field and hit a two-run home run. After the season, Baseball America named him the Yankees’ No. 3 prospect and the No. 67 overall prospect in baseball. MLB Pipeline also put him at No. 47 overall. MiLB.com also named him an Organization All-Star. The Florida State League also named him a Postseason All-Star and the league’s “Top MLB Prospect.”

Also, New York gave RHP Art Warren a two-year contract in the minor leagues for 2023 and 2024, with an invitation to Yankees spring training in 2024.
