The IPL 2024 journey for Hardik Pandya and Company is almost over.
The Mumbai Indians earlier became the first team to be knocked out of the IPL. Since the time Hardik Pandya was appointed as the new skipper of the side, replacing Rohit Sharma, nothing has gone right for the franchise.

Speaking about the same Pakistan pace legend, Wasim Akram, who was once with KKR as a bowling coach, said that the last-minute captaincy change is one of the major reasons behind Mumbai’s poor performance.

In his interaction with Sportskeeda, Wasim Akram said, “The Mumbai Indians must be going through a lot as a team. Last minute mein jo captain change huwa hai na Mumbai Indians ka, usse farak toh pada hai. The captaincy switch at the final minute undoubtedly had an impact.”

Akram further added, “Agar yeh pata hota na ki yeh badal rahe hai aur Rohit khud kahta ki, I just want to play cricket and have a rest. India ki kaptaani bhi chodd di hai toh phir theek hai (if it was prearranged and Rohit had expressed his desire to simply play cricket and relax. It would have been acceptable if he had also relinquished his captaincy of India.”

Akram further went on to say that the Mumbai Indians should have taken a bit of time in making the decision for a captaincy change.

Speaking about the same, Wasim Akram said, “Woh, India ki kaptani bhi kar raha hai. In my opinion, iss saal Pandya ko vice captain banate. Rohit kaptani karta aur agle saal Rohit kahta ab bas. I am relaxing; I want to enjoy myself, and I am giving reign to Pandya. Kissi ko shock nahi hota.
