New Zealand Cricket also rejected the split-coaching idea for the national team. Hence, Gary Stead will be the head coach of the side for all three formats. He will hold the position till 2025. As a result, the 51-year-old will guide the team during ODI World Cup 2023, T20 World Cup 2024, and ICC WTC cycle 2023-25.

Gary Stead’s Results Have Been Very Impressive: New Zealand Cricket
In an official press release, New Zealand Cricket’s General Manager Bryan Stronach revealed the news to the media. He also informed Gary Stead received a lot of positive support to be the head coach for another term.
“The support for Gary was overwhelmingly positive – from the players, the BLACKCAPS support staff, Major Association coaches and support staff, as well as the New Zealand Cricket Players Association and NZC High Performance Unit staff”, the statement read.

The statement also mentioned that the New Zealand coach’s results are impressive and the board feels he has a lot to offer to the team in the future.
“Gary’s results have been very impressive and we’re confident that he still has a lot to offer the team. Of course, a big part of this decision came down to whether Gary wanted to continue and he made it clear his appetite to take this team forward was as keen as ever,” the statement further said.

New Zealand Cricket also discussed the split-coaching idea in depth. However, they did not find it beneficial for the team in the current scenario. Teams like England, South Africa, and West Indies have switched to the split-coaching method. Hence, they have different coaches for every format.
“A split-coaching role was discussed in depth but, with most of our leading BLACKCAPS playing across all three formats, and the culture of the group so strong and positive, we saw clear benefits in supporting the status quo,” Bryan Stronach added.

Gary Stead became the New Zealand coach in 2018. Since then, he has gained a lot of success in his kitty. He led the team to the finals of the ODI World Cup 2019 and T20 World Cup 2021. He also led Kiwis to ICC WTC 2021 title.
