Kolkata Knight Riders are off to a poor start in their ongoing IPL 2023 game against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium thanks to a smart piece of fielding effort from Hrithik Shokeen.
Mumbai Indians’ stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to field first. The game started on a special note as legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar finally made his debut in the IPL after spending the last couple of years warming the bench in the Mumbai Indians dressing room.

He also started the proceedings with the ball and did well. Facing the dangerous Rahmanullah Gurbaz, he conceded just 4 runs in the first over of the match to give Mumbai Indians a good start. And in the next over, they further strengthened their position in the game when Hrithik Shokeen took a fine catch to send back N Jagadeesan.

On the fifth ball of the over, Cameron Green bowled a pitched-up delivery and Jagadeesan went for a cover drive. He made good contact with the ball but failed to keep his shot grounded. The ball, however, was still dipping and at first it looked like it would drop just in front of Hrithik Shokeen at the cover point.

However, the youngster dived forward just in time to take a fine catch. The decision went upstairs as the umpires wanted to ensure whether it was a legal catch or not and the replays showed that Hrithik Shokeen had enough fingers under the ball. As a result, Jagadeesan had to walk back even before opening his account.

Talking about the game, Kolkata Knight Riders were on 55 for 1 after the 5th over at the time of writing this report. Venkatesh Iyer was going great guns and was batting on 38 off just 15 balls. Gurbaz was giving him company on 7.
