Donovan Mitchell, a Star for the Cavaliers, Responds to the NBA’s Drug Test After Scoring 71 Points

Donovan Mitchell, who is a standout for the Cleveland Cavaliers, is sceptical that the National Basketball Association decided to test him for performance-enhancing substances after he scored 71 points in a single game on Monday.

Following the 26-year-old record holder’s performance against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday morning, the league decided to administer a test for performance-enhancing drugs to both Donovan Mitchell and his teammate Robin Lopez. The test was conducted by the league.

Donovan Mitchell responded to the league’s quick decision with a tweet. And with that, he followed it up with, “We are drug tested this morning,” followed by a few laughing emojis.

ESPN reports that Donovan Mitchell and Lopez were both subjected to the tests in question. The publication asserts that, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and the NBPA, the usual drug-testing methodology for players consists of four random PEDS tests administered during the season and two administered during the offseason.

The standout player for Cleveland also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out 11 assists on Monday night. On Friday, Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to Denver to face off against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

With a record of 24-14, the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers boast a “big three” consisting of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Donovan Mitchell.

The addition of Donovan Mitchell was a smart move on the part of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scores 29.3 points a game, grabs 3.9 rebounds, dishes out 4.8 assists, and steals 1.4 balls on average. Cleveland appears to be in an excellent position to clinch a top-four seed in the East and secure the right to play the first round of the playoffs at home, despite the fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated from the playoffs in both of their play-in games the previous season.

What kind of reaction did people online have to Donovan Mitchell’s tweet? The audience, including Donovan Mitchell, couldn’t help but laugh out loud when they saw the situation, and several of them replied to Donovan’s tweet with comedic comments.

One of the fans stated that “all they are going to find out is this.” Another supporter expressed their opinion by stating, “At the very least for professional sports, I bet it isn’t nice to have some random person see you take a piss just to have it come back negative.”
