Room 333: Most Haunted Room in Langham Hotel

Langham Hotel is a famous five star hotel in England. But behind the luxury lies dark secret kept especially in haunted Room 333.

Known as one of the oldest grand hotels in England, Langham Hotel is located at Portland Place, Regent Street, London. The Hotel opened its door in 1865 with 500 rooms and suites. Since then, it caters to notable guests the likes of Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde.

The fame of Langham is not only attributed to its finest service but also to the claims that it is haunted.

According to reports, the hotel has the following ghosts – silver-haired Victorian gentleman, a German prince, a wounded man, Emperor Napoleon Iii, the butler, a footman and the ghost in Room 333.

Claims said that the silver-haired Victorian gentleman was a doctor who murdered his wife and committed suicide. Those who saw him described him with cloak and cravat with blank staring eyes.

The most active ghost is said to be that of a German prince. It was reported that the prince committed suicide by jumping off the window from the upper-storey room. He is frequently seen in the morning hours in Room 333 walking through doors and walls especially.

In Room 333 also resides a ghost who shook the bed where guest occupy in the middle of the night. In the hallway near Room 333, a man with a wide open wound manifests itself along with the apparition of a butler and the footman in powdered wig.

The ghost of Emperor Napoleon III who lived in Langham until his last days caused scare to those who venture near the basement.

In 1973, BBC journalist James Alexander Gordon stayed in Room 333. He was awaken to a ball of light which slowly assumed to human shape. Gordon added that the apparition floated two feet above the floor and dressed in Victorian attire. The specter opened its arms and moved towards him. The journalist jumped out of bed and fled the room.

Stuart Broad and the rest of the England cricket team stayed in Langham Hotel during the 2014 London Test match. Broad shared that slept in Room 333.

‘It was so hot in the room I just couldn’t sleep. All of a sudden the taps in the bathroom came on for no reason. I turned the lights on and the taps turned themselves off. Then when I turned the lights off again the taps came on. It was very weird,” Broad narrated.
