Nielsen Social Content Ratings, Week Of Jan. 16: NFL Conference Championships Rule Facebook, Twitter

The National Football League’s two Conference championship games Sunday dominated the Nielsen Social Content Ratings for the week of Jan. 16.

The Atlanta Falcons’ rout of the visiting Green Bay Packers in the National Football Conference title game drew 26.431 million interactions across Facebook and Twitter, closely followed by 24.439 million interactions for the New England Patriots’ similar treatment of the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers in the American Football Conference championship game.

The third-place finisher in the sports category—a rematch of last year’s National Basketball Association Finals, with the Golden State Warriors blowing out the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers—spurred just 2.49 million interactions.

As for TV series and specials, the People’s Choice Awards on CBS led the field with 809,000 interactions, followed by NBC’s Saturday Night Live (648,000) and WWE Monday Night Raw on USA Network (512,000).
