Best Hotels Near Helsinki Airport

So your flight is arriving to Helsinki in the evening and connecting flight leaving only the next day? In that case, you might want to stay around the Helsinki Airport for that night. Obviously, there are a few hotels that are welcoming tired travelers, but the difficulty of choice is ever present. To help you in that, to assist you in choosing the best Hotel near Helsinki airport, I have written this article. Read on and find the best stay for your needs!

1. Hilton Helsinki Airport

This is the hotel with one of the best locations. It’s situated in the airport area, around 200 meters from the entrance of the terminal two (from where most international flights depart and arrive). The Hilton brand promises high quality premises and staff – indeed, the rooms are soundproofed and breakfast is served from 06:00 onwards. I have actually stayed in this hotel myself, and will tell below what I like about this and what not.

What people liked?

Location – The location is excellent, in a separate building from terminal two but right next to it. If you drop your bags in the evening to bag drop and print your check-in papers, you can just walk right to security check in the morning.

Gym – There’s a small gym in the basement. It has a pull up station, some dumbbells and cardio machines. As far as I remember, barbells are not present – so no squats, deadlifts or bench presses here.

Top class room – The room itself is a high quality one. It is soundproofed, we couldn’t hear anything – no planes, no neighbors, no nothing during our one night stay. Furthermore, the toilet was stylish with glass walls and everything.

What people didn’t like?

Most things cost extra – I was under the impression breakfast is included in the price. It wasn’t. Furthermore, I thought WiFi would be included too. Apparently, if you book through Booking.com WiFi is free, but if you use another method, wireless Internet might be a paid service.

2. GoSleep Lounge

GoSleep Lounge is not really a hotel, but a bunch of sleeping capsules in Helsinki Airport’s terminal 2, by gate 31. So yes, it’s behind security check and passport control. In case you definitely don’t want to miss a flight, a “hotel” this close to gates should do the trick for you!

What people liked?

Location – For a transit passenger this is a golden hotel, as you are already there where you’ll need to be the next morning.

Staff – Supposedly this GoSleep Lounge has staff, and the few people who had left reviews about the hotel also said the staff is very friendly and helpful (although they might not speak Finnish, the native language in these areas).

What people didn’t like?

Noise – Yeah, they are capsules you are staying in, not real rooms. Furthermore, you are inside an airport! There will be dozens of people walking by at all times. Earplugs are provided but I hear they don’t block out the noise completely.

No big luggage – Because the hotel is behind security check, only carry-on luggage will be allowed at this point.

3. Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport

This seems to be the best-rated hotel close to Helsinki Airport as of 2017. Its location is very close to airport terminals, and all of the rooms seem to offer air conditioning and soundproofing. Breakfast is offered as early as from 04:00. The property also has two saunas and a gym.

What people liked?

New hotel – The Clarion is a new hotel, everything is in good condition.

Location – Location is next to a commuter rail station that goes right to airport.

Breakfast – There were so many guests who said the breakfast is exceptionally tasty in this place.

No noise – Despite being in the airport area, there is no noise from airplanes landing or taking off.

What people didn’t like?

Hard to walk to – As far as I know, there is no clear path if you’re walking from terminal to this hotel.

4. Airport Hotel Bonus Inn

Not right by the airport, the Bonus Inn can still be considered an airport hotel due to it’s close proximity to Helsinki-Vantaa. It actually provides a free airport shuttle for customers and a restaurant if you become hungry or thirsty. There is also a gym in the hotel. As it is, I have stayed also in this hotel, so I can share my experiences below.

What people liked?

Free shuttle – We utilized the free shuttle service. It leaves in front of Terminal 1 and 2 if I recall correctly, we used the stop in front of terminal 2. The drive takes around 5 minutes and it goes directly to the hotel. It doesn’t cost anything. The bus worked as expected.

Tolerable price – Prices in Helsinki area are high, however this hotel had a tolerable price for one night stay for two persons.

Peaceful – It always depends on the neighbors but we didn’t have any disturbances whatsoever. The hotel is indeed a little away from the airport so there is no way you could ever hear airplanes, anyway.

What people didn’t like?

Cheap/old feel – Not that it’s a big deal, but there’s something that makes the hotel look cheap. Perhaps because it’s old. Well, it is quite an affordable stay, so I’m going to stop the complaining here. But so that you just know.

5. Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo

This Sokos Hotel is located in the Jumbo Shopping Centre, a few kilometers away from the Helsinki airport. Being a modern hotel, all rooms feature air conditioning and minibars. There’s a restaurant dedicated to Mexican food at the premises.

What people liked?

Good for shopping – Jumbo is one of the biggest shopping centres in Finland. So, you will find everything there. Shops, but also restaurants.

Breakfast – The early breakfast before 7AM is rather limited, only cold foods available, but after 7AM there will all kinds of hot food – like eggs and bacon – served.

Views – Views from the upper floors (12th and so) will be great. You can watch planes take off and land if the weather allows. Also urban Vantaa area can be interesting to some.

What people didn’t like?

No airport shuttle – As far as I know this Sokos Hotel does not offer airport shuttle. So you must either take taxi or paid bus to reach this property from airport (commuter train doesn’t go to this direction).

6. Glo Hotel Airport

Glo is one of the hotels that is actually situated inside the airport. The rooms come with air conditioning, and there is also free access to gym at all hours. There is a hotel bar until 1:30 at night and breakfast is served as well. One thing to keep in mind is, the hotel rooms don’t have windows.

What people liked?

Location in Terminal 2 – It’s in the Terminal 2 so you won’t even need to go outside to reach this hotel if you’re arriving by plane.

Modern room – The rooms are clean and modern. You can adjust the lightning from switches as you please.

What people didn’t like?

No windows – It is noted in the description, but obviously people still don’t like the windowless rooms. The reason for this is, the hotel is actually located underground.

Noisy – A few people complained noise from neighboring rooms or the hallway.

Furthermore, the breakfast starts already at 04:00 for early travelers. Like its competitors, also this Cumulus hotel has sauna and gym for free for guests.

What people liked?

Free shuttle service – Obviously, guests like the bus that takes them from airport to this hotel fast and for free.
