But since the hotel has been around for some time, a small number of guests may encounter rooms with dated fittings. Permanent stains in the bathroom or in the bathtub found in a few of the hotel rooms may dismay guests who are very finicky about cleanliness.

Their comfortable beds and pillows are one of the highlights in the reviews written by their customers. The hotel carries out housekeeping services for each room twice a day. Traders Hotel’s customers love the splendid view in the Towers View Rooms and Suites. Combine that with a spotless room and a comfortable bed, you have the perfect setting for an enjoyable evening. Not to mention that their friendly staffs will try their best to cater to your needs. However, like Mandarin Oriental, Traders Hotel (Booking.com / Agoda) has been around for some time. Thus, you might get a room with old and worn out furniture.

Business travelers and those with a little more budget to spend highly recommended the Traders Club Twin Towers View Room. With the upgrade, you will get access to the club lounge, which will serve free breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, as well as complimentary beverages throughout the day. Past guests portrayed the cleanliness of the hotel and its room as “almost spotless.” Their rooms with a view of the twin towers come with floor-to-ceiling windows, giving you an unobstructed, wide-angle view of the stunning scenery outside. “It looks like it’s straight out of a film set,” one of the reviews describing the rooms reads.

The review scores assigned to DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur (Booking.com / Agoda) on the main hotel booking sites are lower than other hotels in its category. Their staffs are professional and helpful, but not as friendly. The rooms are clean, but some travelers didn’t like the old towels provided to them. Some of these towels even come with stains. Guests also disliked the slow check-in process, and they have mixed reviews for breakfasts. There were also complaints that some of the non-smoking rooms have cigarette smells.

Mid-range Rooms

We define mid-range rooms as rooms with a price tag of between RM400 to RM500.

However, cleanliness can be an issue in some rooms, even after housekeeping carried out their duties. The furniture inside the rooms is so old that some guests even suggested that the hotel should undergo a renovation. The hotel is a short walk away from the towers and the shopping mall beneath them. Besides, the KLCC to Bukit Bintang Pedestrian Walkway next to the hotel allows guest to reach Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and other attractions in the Bukit Bintang area conveniently.

The staffs here are friendly and helpful. Some of them are even willing to go the extra mile. However, they could be more attentive to requests put forward by guests.

A major issue with Impiana KLCC Hotel (Booking.com / Agoda) seems to be the upkeep of its rooms. The hotel is in a dated and old building, and since there is no proper maintenance, a lot of its fittings are faulty, dusty, non-functional or not ready for use. Dirty carpets, clogged sink drains and clumps of hair around the bathtub drainage are some examples of the things that greeted some guests who were checking into their rooms. Daily housekeeping was sloppy too because everyday tasks such as replacing used towels get missed.

Despite the inconvenient location, the apartment trumped the executive suites at PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur to become our best pick for groups because the latter is almost twice as expensive. To the property’s credit, they are trying their best to relieve the agony that guests may have for the long walking distances to major attractions by offering a free shuttle service to the KLCC area.

Aside from the comfortable beds, spacious, clean bedrooms and bathrooms that you would expect from a 4-star accommodation provider, guests who put up here adore the view from its infinity pool and gym. Even though the property is a little far from PETRONAS Twin Towers, you can still see it clearly from the pool. The view, coupled with its length that is suitable for some serious swimming, is best for guests who just want to enjoy the view as well as those who want to have a swim.

Past guests described the staffs at Somerset Ampang Kuala Lumpur (Booking.com / Agoda) as attentive, great at solving guest problems, and friendly. On the flip side, there were also guests who felt the staffs could be more hospitable.

Moreover, these suites come with a kitchen, along with the cooking utensils and a full-sized fridge. All these are a godsend for groups that want to prepare their own meals.

Some guests reported that bathrooms in their suites were a little dirty during their stay while some encountered noisy air conditioning units. These are unlikely to cause significant inconveniences, though.

What if I Cannot Afford the Rooms Above?

If you really want a room with the view, try requesting for it when you are checking in. From their swimming pool, you can only see one of the twin towers.

Like Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur, its rooms, especially the ones facing the main road, has poor soundproofing. Upon arriving at the respective floors where their rooms are, many guests were greeted with a dark corridor shrouded with a weird, musty smell. The bathroom was dirty, and the bedsheets were dusty in some rooms. Also, housekeeping was poorly done most of the time because they need to get the rooms ready in a short amount of time. Some guests also encountered staffs that were rude towards them.

If you are on a tight budget, and all the possible cons I mentioned don’t sound that bad, Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur and Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC are your best options to stay in one of the most famous spots in Kuala Lumpur.
