There is no area of American life where white men are not entirely in charge —  executive suites, politics, professional sports, Religion, the media, and the judiciary. And yet to listen to Trump, you would believe that white men are inches from being lined up against the wall and shot. The Kavanaugh unpleasantness has illuminated this pathetic, white, Whiny self-pity in stark relief.

An emotionally fragile Kavanaugh wept and yelled his way through a defense of his nomination against the forces of liberalism and the Clintons. He outlined his heroic ascent to the heights of academia with a tale of an unaided entry to Yale. In his mythology, with no one in his corner, he had to work his tail off to get into the Ivies. 

Left unmentioned is his mother, then a Maryland Circuit Court Judge, and his father, President of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association — a position which paid $921,000 in 2012. And the advantages that accrue to students of prestigious private schools.

Talking of private schools, Jerry Falwell Jr., President of  Liberty University, adds whiny evangelicalism to the mix. Here is a man who has hit the demographic lottery. He is white, he comes from money, he’s a man, and he ’s a leader of the dominant religion. And yet he feels ‘threatened’.

Falwell’s religion is nominally one of peace established by the Lord’s only son, aka “the Lamb of God” — not “the Rabid Pitbull of God”. But the Prince of Peace’s message is discarded in favor of Brown Shirt thuggery. Here’s a typical tweet:

Conservatives & Christians need to stop electing “nice guys”. They might make great Christian leaders but the US needs street fighters like @realDonaldTrump at every level of government b/c the liberal fascists Dems are playing for keeps & many Repub leaders are a bunch of wimps!

Turn the other cheek? Not for this unChristian bullyboy.

Lindsey Graham, another prominent white man, has become unhinged, having —  as Bill Maher said —  lost his dead boyfriend. Or, in other words, a strong stabilizing male presence in his life. His hyperbole during the Kavanaugh hearings bears witness to his deteriorating mental state. Here are a few samples:

Graham is a milquetoast who thinks that finger pointing, snarling, spit-flecked rage is a sign of strength. I don’t pick on Lindsey because he’s short — Winston Churchill was an inch shorter, and no one questioned his force — but because he acts small, petty and petulant.

Fox News is home to the whiny. And in fairness, they have diversified to include women. Jeanine Pirro is the hysterical face of the distaff contribution to the madness. Laura Ingraham is its cool, even-toned, malevolent manifestation. And there are a bunch of others who I get confused.

On the male side the doyen, until his sexual assaults revealed his bestial id, was Bill O’Reilly. Sean Hannity has been a reliable watchman on the ramparts of Castle Paranoia. But the leading voice of the whiny whites is the reliable racist Tucker Carlson. Here is one of his offerings:

“Are you worried that if dumb people like David Gergen or the rest at CNN keep up with the race hatred that that will actually encourage some kind of conflict? You see this in a lot of different countries. We really don’t want it here. But could we get there if they don’t stop?”  

In Tucker’s mind, any criticism or challenge to a conservative white man is due solely to his color. It is the same philosophy that accuses a poor man, who is merely asking for another crust of bread, of being a warrior in a class war, gnashing at the bit to impoverish the rich and fetter the powerful in chains of servitude.

This message echoes through the mass of poorly-educated, white men who feel ‘their’ country and future has been stolen from them by women claiming rape. Mexicans who are here to rape, Muslims who want to make rape legal. And liberals who want to make sex between man and beast a licit — and perhaps even mandatory — past-time.

Rich white propaganda has distracted these poor benighted souls from the real cause of their stagnation. And that is 40 years of conservative policies that have favored the rich over unions, healthcare, education, job training and investment in the technologies of the future.

Right-wing fiscal policy has it that a rising tide lifts all boats. But it does nothing to ensure that all boats float. And a Garbage Scow is a garbage scow no matter how high the water. All the while the yacht owners are whining that it’s so hard to find quality grape peelers.
