Prabhunath remembered the days of the Janam Tim, Jangalraj of Bihar

- The trial court and the high court acquitted Prabhunath, so it was thought that Prabhunath would survive but the Supreme Court sentenced him to death.

- Prabhunath was so afraid that if someone went to his court in the morning without saluting, his dead body would reach his house in the evening. Not only ordinary people but also high officials including police chief, collector were forced to attend Prabhunath's court and sit on the ground in front of Prabhunath and listen to what he said. People used to call Prabhunath as Chhapra Ka Nath. Compared to the gangsters Mohammad Shahbuddin, Anand Mohan Singh, Surajbhan Singh, Anant Singh etc. who created fear in Bihar politics, there are fewer cases against Prabhunath Singh, but Prabhunath's fear was more than all these gangsters.

Along with the two gangster-cum-politicians Anand Mohan Singh and Amarmani Tripathi, who were once hotly debated in the country, another politician-cum-gangster Prabhunath Singh from Bihar has also come into the limelight. Of course, Prabhunath's reason for coming into the discussion is different. While Anand Mohan and Amarmani are in the news for being released from jail at the behest of politicians despite being convicted in the murder case, Prabhunath Singh is in the news for the Supreme Court's life sentence in the 1995 double murder case.

Prabhunath Singh shot and killed 18-year-old Rajendra Rai and his father Daroga Rai at the polling booth in Chhapra because they did not vote for Prabhunath Singh. Prabhunath shot both of them in public to create fear among the voters. In this incident that happened 28 years ago, there was no possibility of Prabhunath being punished in this case.

The trial court acquitted Prabhunath. The High Court also upheld this judgment, so it seemed that Prabhunath would be saved, but the Supreme Court rejected both these judgments and sentenced Prabhunath to Janamtip. The Supreme Court has also ordered compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh to the families of the injured.

Along with the punishment of Prabhunath, memories of the Jungle Raj in Bihar in the 1990s have been revived. Bihar's politics was already dominated by criminals, but the criminalization of politics increased in the 1980s. In the 1990s, it became a situation that there was no politician who was not a criminal in Bihar. Leaders including Lalu Prasad Yadav, who were on the ground to break the dominance of the Congress, found and nurtured the criminals. Due to this, the jungle became king in Bihar.

Prabhunath Singh is one such gangster cum politician. Prabhunath was so afraid in Chhapra of Bihar that if anyone went to his court in the morning without saluting, his dead body would reach his house in the evening. Not only ordinary people but also high officials including police chief, collector were forced to attend Prabhunath's court and sit on the ground in front of Prabhunath and listen to what he said.

Prabhunath comes from a Thakur family and was originally a cement merchant. Another Thakur leader Ramdev Singh was dominant in Chhapra district at that time.

Prabhunath got into a fight with him and Prabhunath killed Ramdev Singh by shooting him. Due to this Prabhunath's fear subsided. To take advantage of this, in 1985, Prabhunath contested as an independent for the first time from Mashrakh seat. In front was Ramdev Singh's son Harendra Singh. Prabhunath defeated him easily and his bully days began in Bihar politics. After becoming an MLA, Prabhunath started filling the court every day and there was regular hooliganism.

Prabhunath used to summon people who stood in front of him, government officials who did not give contracts, etc. to the court and shoot them, in a short time such awe was felt that no one would have the courage to speak about Prabhunath in Chhapra. People used to call Prabhunath as Chhapra Ka Nath. When Ashok Singh defeated Prabhunath in the 1995 elections, Prabhunath gave a challenge to kill Ashok Singh within 90 days. Prabhunath killed Ashok Singh 100 meters away from Chief Minister Lalu Prayad Yadav's house in 90 days and instilled such awe that everyone sat down.

Prabhunath's fear was such that no one dared to complain against him. Due to this, fewer cases have been registered against Prabhunath Singh as compared to gangsters like Mohammad Shahbuddin, Anand Mohan Singh, Surajbhan Singh, Anant Singh, who created fear in Bihar politics, but Prabhunath's fear was more than all these gangsters. Other gangsters went on to commit their own petty crimes while Prabhunath reigned throughout his life on the terror he created in his early years.

Due to this fear, Prabhunath became MLA twice and was elected to Lok Sabha four times. Prabhunath is considered to be close to Laluprasad Yadav but in reality he has relations with all the leaders including Nitish Kumar. Prabhunath Singh has been elected to Lok Sabha from both Lalu's RJD and Nitish's Samata Party. In Chhapra, Prabhunath's son Randhir Singh is currently the MLA. Prabhunath's brothers Dina Singh, Madan Singh and Kedar Singh have also been MLAs.

Mohammad Shahbuddin is one of the most feared politicians in Bihar politics. Mohammad Shahbuddin had great influence in Siwan of Bihar. A war broke out between Shahbuddin and Prabhunath Singh for supremacy in Siwan. The war between Shahbuddin and Prabhunath's gangs became much debated. After Shahbuddin was jailed in a murder case, his influence declined. Shahabuddin's wife Hani Shahab tried to take over her husband's political legacy but was unsuccessful. Now Shahbuddin's son Osama has come forward but Shahbuddin's name is not feared so Shahbuddin's family also has to surrender to Prabhunath to survive. This is a proof of how powerful Prabhunath is.

Prabhunath Singh is an important figure in Bihar politics and he has influence on the Rajput voters, so before the Lok Sabha elections, it was believed that the Nitish Kumar government would drop Prabhunath Singh too. Prabhunath has a close friendship with Anand Mohan Singh, who is still out of jail after killing Nitish with kindness. Prabhunath and Anand Mohan are said to have arranged a political equation that would give Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav the Rajput votes of North Bihar. Now these political equations have failed with the punishment of Prabhunath.

Prabhunath defeated Ashok Singh who won against him in 90 days

Prabhunath Singh has also been sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of Mashrak MLA Ashok Singh. Prabhunath is serving a life sentence in Hazaribagh Central Jail in Jharkhand in this case. The Ashok Singh murder case is a big proof of Prabhunath's fear. In the 1995 elections, Prabhunath Singh contested from the Masharakh seat as the Bihar People's Party candidate of newly emerged gangster Anand Mohan Singh. The Janata Dal gave the ticket to the brash Ashok Singh, who once acted as Prabhunath Singh's man. In this election, Prabhunath lost against Ashok by more than 18 thousand votes.

When the results of the election were announced, Prabhunath Singh announced that Ashok Singh would settle it within 90 days after he took the oath of the MLA. Despite this threat, Ashok Singh increased his security, but Prabhunath killed Ashok Singh exactly on the 90th day after he took oath as a MLA.

Ashok Singh had the security of an MLA, his own personal bodyguard, yet Prabhunath's men barged into the MLA's quarters and threw a bomb, killing Ashok Singh. Ashok Singh's head was blown off and only his torso remained. Prabhunath Singh was convicted in this case due to the testimony of Ashok Singh's wife Chandni Singh.

Prabhunath said, I don't like Sonia's face

Prabhunath Singh is considered the leader who increased the influence of Rajputs in the politics of Bihar.

Prabhunath along with Anand Mohan Singh not only created awe but also played an important role in bringing Rajput gangsters into Bihar politics. Most of the Rajput gangsters active in Bihar politics are considered disciples of Prabhunath.

Prabhunath raised the issue of Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin and raised a lot of debate. Prabhunath was JDU MP at that time. He made a statement that, I do not like Sonia Gandhi's face, voice and language at all. Prabhunath also said that the popularity of Sonia Gandhi is the misfortune of the country.
