The Limboo-Tamang Voluntary Committee (LTVC) organized a protest march in Jorethang, West Sikkim, demanding reservation for the Limboo and Tamang communities in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. The central government granted tribal status to the communities in 2003, but they have yet to receive reservation in the state legislature. The LTVC has given an ultimatum to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang to resolve the issue before the next assembly polls. The communities have a population of one lakh, and the ruling SKM leaders have not commented on the protests.
