Middle East Europe Corridor: After the terror attack of Hamas, the war between Israel and Palestine has started. Israel immediately declared war after the terrorist attack and invaded the Gaza Strip. Due to this war, the India-Middle East Economic Corridor, an ambitious project launched at the G20 summit, has now become a cloud of crisis. Israel is also part of this plan. Plans were announced to develop shipping and railway links between the three regions along the India-Central East-Europe Economic Corridor. This was preceded by the I2, You2 (Israel, UAE and US Corridor) agreement. But after the war between Israel and Hamas, some of its ambitious plans may be affected. Along with normalizing relations between America, Saudi Arabia and Israel, the emphasis is on creating an economic corridor from India to Europe. The corridor would pass through the Middle-East, so the project has been stalled by the war between Israel and Hamas.

The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor consists of two distinct corridors. The Eastern Corridor will connect India with the Arabian Gulf and the Northern Corridor will connect the Arabian Gulf with Europe. The plan also includes a railway project, which will provide a cross-border rail transit network. This will facilitate movement of goods between India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and Europe.
The project seems to be in trouble
America, Britain and its allies France, Germany and Italy are supporting Israel in this war while Iran, Syria and Qatar are supporting Hamas. Hence, this project may be eclipsed. The UAE has given a very measured response to this. It was also being called the Spice Route for India, as it would also connect it to the Gulf countries and Europe.
Why will China benefit?
Disruption in India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor will leave China reeling. China is asserting its hegemony in this area. Also, China wants to complete the BRI project quickly. China is also trying to improve relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
