The Flood Death Toll in Sikkim continues to rise. The death toll has increased to 40 including seven jawans. 143 people are missing due to flood. Army and NDRF teams are searching for the missing people. 2413 people have been rescued and sheltered in relief camps.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced a compensation of four lakh rupees to the families of the deceased. Apart from this, he has also announced to immediately pay Rs. 2000 to the people living in the relief camp.

He told the reporters that due to the flood, there has been a loss of crores of rupees. At present this loss cannot be estimated. Currently we are concentrating on the task of evacuating the trapped people and providing assistance to them.

Tamang further said that bridges and roads have been washed away, causing connectivity between the districts. Out of the 23 missing jawans, seven bodies have been found. A total of 25,100people in the state have been affectedby the floods .

The Chief Minister has spoken toPrime Minister Narendra Modi , Home Minister Amit Shah , President Draupadi Murmu and other Union Ministers about the tragedy. All these people have assured to provide all possible help to the state.

Following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's directive, the Ministry of Home Affairs has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) to review the flood damage in the state.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah has approved an advance amount of Rs 44.8 crore to help the affected people of Sikkim. This amount has been sanctioned from the central contribution of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

The Chief Minister of Sikkim has blamed the previous government for the bad construction of the dam. The Chief Minister of Sikkim has blamed the poor construction of former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling's Sikkim Democratic Front government for the collapse of the Chungthang Dam.
