Ruto has already betrayed Mudavadi – Joyous Atwoli says

The General Secretary of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), Francis Atwoli, said on Monday (January 31st) that Vice President William Ruto had already betrayed the leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party, Musalia Mudavadi.

Speaking at a consultative meeting at the Golf Hotel, Kakamega, the visibly excited COTU boss remarked that Mudavadi’s political future was already in limbo just days after he struck a political pact with the DP Ruto.

While referring to comments from the President of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Johnson Muthama on Monday, Atwoli insinuated that the Ruto-affiliated party had already denounced him.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli speaks to the press Sunday, October 10 at the Golf Hotel Kakamega.

“Right now, Muthama is hot. Just after Musalia said they (Kenya Kwanza) have not yet decided among themselves (who will be the presidential candidate), Muthama said they (Mudavadi and Wetangula) had only joined the UDA as friends,” Atwoli remarked.

He argued that Muthama would not have made the comments if Musalia and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula had not been doing what he described as begging for a political coalition with the country’s number two.

“He (Muthama) said there was no agreement. The president of the UDA has already expelled him. These are the faults of begging. Where will they go now? Atwoli scolded

The COTU boss also took the opportunity to attack Ruto, whom he accuses of insulting the leaders of the region.

“Tell Wiliam Samoei Ruto to stop insulting the leaders. He even has the guts to despise me, your leader. Let me tell you, if he calls a meeting in Kakamega, don’t go!” he reprimanded.

The trade unionist openly castigated the ANC-UDA alliance, arguing that the union would get no votes in the vote-rich western region.

He also punched five-point holes from Mudavad economic recovery manifesto: better economics, better decentralization, better relationships, better leadership and better economics.

“Mudavadi, in 1994, when he was Minister of Finance, slipped the dismissal clause into the Finance Bill 1994, as suggested by the World Bank, which allowed employers to declare dismissal without consulting workers So how is he going to empower workers? Atwoli posed.

In the meeting attended by CS Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and other dignitaries, Western Kenya leaders endorsed Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga for the presidency in the August 9 election.
