Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on Monday announced the list of 18 candidates for the upcoming MLC polls in Andhra Pradesh. YSRCP general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy released the names of the party’s candidates.
Among the total 18 seats, 11 seats are allotted to backward classes, two seats to scheduled castes (SCs), one seat to scheduled tribes (ST) and the remaining four seats to other castes.
The YSRCP leader said the state’s Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy finalised the names of the candidates in order to ensure social justice. Reddy further said during Telugu Desam Party (TDP) rule, BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities had 37 percent representation in the Legislative Council but YSRCP has given them 43 percent representation in these sections.
Of the total vacancies, there are seven vacancies in the MLA quota, nine vacancies in the local body quota and two vacancies in the Governor quota.
