The Congress Party released the list of 40 star campaigners on Tuesday for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Elections.

Congress released a list of prominent campaigners, including Party Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA chairperson and long-serving president Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi, and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Twitter.

The list also includes Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, Jignesh Mevani, former Madhya Pradesh chief ministers Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nathare and fiery former Jawaharlal Nehru student Kanhaiya Kumar.

However, several senior leaders of the party including Shashi Tharoor, Anand Sharma, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and Manish Tewari did not feature in the list.

The Gujarat Assembly elections are being contested by three parties: the BJP, which has ruled the state for 24 years; the Congress, which is running a strong campaign; and the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Elections for the 182-member Gujarat Assembly will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will be done on December 8.
