As part of our blog, we interview the bride and groom about their wedding experience. This is what they said:

Tell us about the Bride Where you grew up went to school, where you work.

Grew up in Glen Gardner NJ. Went to Fairleigh Dickinson University (right next door to the venue!!!) I work at Novartis as a Creative Project Manager

Tell us about the Groom Where you grew up went to school, where you work.

Brian grew up in Middlesex, NJ- went to Middlesex Community College. He’s a chef at David Ellis Events & Catering

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty Details.

We met in person for the first time on a Wednesday evening after work- April 23, 2014 at the Green Knoll Grill which is a bar in Bridgewater, NJ. We got to know each other over a few beers. Brian got to the bar first but was waiting in his car. I got there a few minutes later but went in looking for him, then called him when I didn’t see anyone that could be him. He came right in (I still don’t know why he thought it was a good idea to wait in the car…?) and gave me a big hug. I was a little disappointed that our first date didn’t end with a kiss. We talked about how we both drive stick-shift cars, our favorite tv shows/movies and different places we’ve traveled to/where we’re looking forward to going to next. The conversation was easy and not awkward or forced. We were automatically friends. What’s also kind of interesting is that the Green Knoll Grill is actually down the street from where we live now and go there occasionally for a drink and the same bartender that served us when we first went is still there.

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?,etc.

I knew Brian was the one kind of gradually after getting to know him over the summer of 2014. We became best friends that summer! We started doing lots of fun things together, hiking, going to the beach, cooking, hanging out with each other’s friends, playing pool…. We found out we wanted a lot of the same things out of life- having a family + travelling, mostly.

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Brian proposed on a coastal cliff in Sonoma County California, near Goat Rock beach during a hike. We were visiting Brian’s best friend/best man Ben. I had literally no idea that he was going to propose. In fact, the week before the trip we got in a really bad fight and I said that maybe he should just go visit Ben by himself, I didn’t mind forfeiting the cheap airline ticket (it was the only money we’d spent since we were staying with Ben). I thought it’d be good for them to have a boys trip, but he insisted that I go. We made up quickly and I went. On the 2nd day of the trip we went on the hike and my friend (and one of the groomsmen) Chuck met up with us for the hike. We walk for an hour or so, stopping to take pictures, eat, climb on some boulders, then we finally make it up to this really beautiful cliff/overlook and I start taking pictures. Brian come up behind me and I turn around, we take a selfie together. Then I see Brian pulling something out of his pocket and getting down on one knee with a ring box. He simply asked, “Will you marry me?” I said, “Of course!!” I was shaking, I was so surprised, happy, and excited. Ben and Chuck took some more pictures of us and we hiked to another beach, took more pictures, hiked back, and went back to Ben’s place to celebrate with champagne and call our families and friends.

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

I love that Brian is really caring, sweet, and romantic to me. He’s also very smart but modest. I love his sense of humor- he is always making me laugh, a lot of times without even meaning to. He’s an amazing chef and even after cooking all day will come home and make dinner for me. I admire the fact that he is strong-willed and doesn’t let anyone tell him what to do (even me!).

Besides getting married -What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

The food!! And seeing everyone I know/love all in one place

What is your favorite trend for weddings right now?

Bright colors

What inspired your decor or theme?

Autumn/ fall colors.

What is one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

That my venue was going to change… I would not have put the location on my save the dates!!

Why did you pick your Wedding Venue, What Attracted you.

Haha! I didn’t pick the Hamilton Park Hotel as my venue… venue was originally Dolce in Basking Ridge, but it got moved due to circumstances beyond my control. I do love Hamilton Park though, so it’s worked out well. I like the ballroom and the room that I will be getting ready in.

At this past wedding, the food was delicious, the flowers were inspiring, and the DJ kept the guests entertained for the entire night. It was a classic wedding with all of the traditional wedding activities and traditions. The bride and groom tied the knot in front of friends and family in a beautiful ceremony that symbolized the love that they share.

The Reception

The couple shared their first dance. The speeches contained a right mix of lighthearted fun and touching moments about their connections to the bride and groom and the love that they share.

Dinner was a gourmet delight but the real star of the day was the delicious cake. The baker outdid themselves by creating a treat that not only looked remarkable but tasted as good as it looked. If you have been to many weddings, you probably know that this is not always the case. After dinner, the real party began as the guests occupied the dance floor.
