Jury at Cannes
The jury at Cannes this year will feature panel member such as Cate Blanchett, Ava Duvernay, Chang Chen, Robert Guediguian, Lea Seydoux, Dennis Villeneuve, Andrey Zvyagintsev and Khadja Nin, among others. The juries are appointed by the festival’s board of directors with the responsibility to choose the movies that will be eligible to win the Cannes award. The director’s work and accolades from peers are considered when selecting the best movies for the Palme d’Or. The four major categories are Cinefondation and Short Films, Feature Films, Un Certain Regard and Camera d’Or.
The movies are screened at various locations within the vicinity of Palais des Festivals et des Congres. The twenty films eligible for Palme d’Or are shown at the Theatre Lumiere. Cultural films are projected at Salle Debussy. Movies not competing for the Palme d’Or but featuring at the festival are projected at Theatre Lumiere. Cinefondation movies representing film schools are presented at Salle Bunuel. Short film award nominees are projected at Bunuel and Debussy theaters as well. The mass public can watch Cannes classics at Mace beach.
