The assembly election results of Gujarat was indeed a shocker for BJP. Even though the saffron brigade emerged victories, still there were reasons to be miffed about the outcome.

Some senior politicians even called it to be a game changer, citing Rahul Gandhi’s fame. Anyhow, BJP has made a stupendous comeback in the urban domain. In the recently concluded Gujarat Civil polls, BJP has won 47 municipalities out of 75 whereas Congress has managed to get only 16 seats. This definitely calls for serious introspection.

In 2013 although Congress won eight municipalities, this year they could only manage 16 seats. Importantly enough, BJP has also won in Narendra Modi’s Vadnagar municipality. As of now, there is still confusion regarding four municipalities where independents got the much-needed boost.

Ahead of the Lok Sabba Elections scheduled next year, this victory will give a huge sigh of relief to BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As both of them are from Gujarat, the outcome of the Civic Polls has not different dimension altogether.

No doubt Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani, and other casteist leaders have become super flops and Gujarat is definitely going to be a major boost in confidence for the saffron brigade.
