Motivation Explained: Why Quick Fixes Don’t Work (even if natural)

Quick fixes don’t work. And it’s actually good news. By diving deep and understanding the difference between instant gratification and delayed gratification you can actually transform not only your Health and wellbeing but all areas of your life. Read this post whenever you need to center your mindset and make friends with your motivation…

Make Your Mind Work for You, Not Against You…

Now, it’s time to manage your expectations. Let’s say, you have just discovered Juicing. or meditation. Or something you know is beneficial for your body, mind, and soul.

Whatever you have chosen to do to improve your health and life, I am sure you are excited about it, and it should be.

Whether it’s juicing, or meditation, or yoga, or something else…

When done consistently. (yes the keyword is consistency) and the right way, it can really boost your wellbeing and help you stay healthy for years to come.

But the question we always ask ourselves is: “How long will it take me to…”

For example: “How long will it take me to experience all those amazing spiritual experiences or increase my intuition?”, or

“How long will it take me to get rid of back pain with yoga?”,

or”How many days of juicing to feel this amazing energy everyone is talking about?”.

Or..my favorite (and I am not bashing anyone for asking this question, I can honestly tell you I used to ask it too):

“How long will it take me to lose weight with the alkaline diet?”

Overcoming Instant Gratification and the Need for the Next “New Excitement”.

Well, nothing is ever black or white. It all depends on where you are on your journey right now.

Let’s take juicing as an example. I am actually writing a new book on juicing right now (diving deeper into non-green alkaline juice recipes to help people enjoy more energy, even if they don’t like juicing greens).

And I have included an entire section called “Managing Your (in this case) Juicing Expectations”.

I don’t like hype. I like authenticity and I know that helping people become masters of their own minds, will help them apply the information I teach them (and benefit from it for years to come). And so, because of that, honesty is very important to me (honesty is one of my biggest values in life).

I see so many people coming to me with unrealistic expectations (not their fault, they got it from some hype’y health and fitness, or even some spirituality “gurus”. ) They feel very excited at first.

They get their juicer (or other equipment) and everything. They juice several times and then they quit because they still haven’t experienced all the amazing benefits of juicing they read about (the same thing applies to, for example, meditation).

Yes, “almost instant” results could take place in some instances…I am not saying it’s not possible.

If you are already eating clean, scheduling your favorite self-care activities, moving your body and working on your mindset, then adding some healthy juicing will help you optimize what you are already doing. All the hard work you have been putting in on your health journey can be quickly amplified by juicing (or other healthy choices).

And so, you may start feeling amazing in just a few days. Your body is already in a clean, healthy state and you are using juicing to take it to the next level.

But, if you are just starting out, be good on yourself. Enjoy the process and have FAITH in it.

Stop comparing yourself to other people, especially if your journey has just started.

Be patient and don’t give up, because you have tried a few juices and didn’t feel that much of a difference.

What “Holistic” Truly Means?

Look at yourself holistically. What else can you improve to make sure your juicing (or other) efforts can help your health and wellness goals?

When I say “holistically”, I am not only referring to “natural”. Yes, holistic and natural very often overlap. But, I don’t like using “holistic” and “natural” interchangeably as if they were the same word because they are not.

When I say “holistically” I mean- integrating all the systems. Your mind and soul included.

You can allow yourself to see the bigger picture of your health journey NOW.

Think where you will be in 5 years or 10 years from now? And, most importantly, how your new, healthy mindset will help you achieve success in all areas of life.

It all starts with health, but it doesn’t end there. So use your energy and health to get closer to your life, family and career goals.

Some days you will feel like it doesn’t make any sense. You will have all those voices in your head telling you to start juicing (or meditating or whatever) tomorrow.

And, you will still get up, brush yourself off, ask for courage and make a decision to set up your juicer and feed your body with a ton of nutrients.

I am telling it like it is. We will be climbing the health Kilimanjaro here and some days will be tough. I still want you to keep going.

Fuse yourself with your goals. Transform your self-image.

If you want to be vibrant, healthy, slim and energized- listen to your higher self and take those healthy actions here and now, even though, you are still not experiencing all the results you want to experience. They will come.

There are no quick fixes. I am like a broken record with that.

The best thing we can do is to commit to the process of taking small, consistent actions for years to come.

Don’t get me wrong, you certainly don’t need to wait for years to experience the energizing benefits of healthy juicing, or yoga, or meditation…

Although, if you commit to living a healthy lifestyle, 5 years you will be a totally new person, you will look back at your photos from now and will be grateful for the actions you have taken.

And I can almost guarantee that your whole life will change. Mine has. All because I decided to focus on my health and spirituality first. From there, I was gradually able to transform all areas of my life.

The journey wasn’t always easy. But all the challenges I had to go through as I was working on my health, my mindset and my business- turned me into a better and stronger person. Not only a more “skilled” person, but a more compassionate person.

I still keep going because I have learned to love the process. I have learned to honor my actions and my commitments, even if I “don’t feel like it”.

Today I didn’t feel like doing anything, to be honest…But I know how motivation works…

Motivation Is Created in Motion…

So, back to managing your expectations. You need to understand that your body, mind, and soul work as a whole. That is a holistic approach and deep transformations can take some time.

By committing to a process, you create a stronger version of yourself. Not only health-wise but also character-wise. So, by committing to regular juicing (or something else that aligns with your health goals) you can master your motivation, discipline and create a new self-image of someone who takes action.

You can then apply the same process to other areas of your life because taking action will be a part of who you are.

Some days, you will not feel like setting up your juicer and juicing. I can honestly tell you that some days, I am not motivated and I don’t feel like it.

It’s like 2 different Marta’s talking to each other. Angel and devil!

You will need to become a Thought Hunter and spot those patterns right away and then say to yourself, OK, Mr Devil, I am doing my juicing, thank you for your opinion, but I will do it anyway!

Some days, you will fall off track- and I can tell you this has happened to me to. Then it’s easy to swallow in self-guilt and self-pity…

Oh but other people on social media are so healthy and they always post this and that….

Yes, the online world, is a different thing. It doesn’t reflect the real battle that, let’s face it, all of us humans, can face.

And since authenticity and honesty are a big part of my values and I base my brand around my values, I am the first one to share what it really takes…the good and the bad.

Not to discourage you, but to help you be prepared.

So that you are not a Worry-ier but a Warrior. A true, Holistic Warrior who can always get back on track!

Ask yourself- what could be a realistic commitment for you?

If you can juice every day, wow, you will feel the results. But, if you are very busy, you can also juice every other day. The same rule applies to meditation or walking in nature. Or anything really.

What is your commitment?

You can organize your routine in a way that best suits your lifestyle.

Oh…and some days it will feel so boring. Oh now…again, juicing. Or Meditation. Or yoga, or running or something else.

Our brains like new stuff, we like excitement. Hence it’s not uncommon to see people jumping around different “diet” programs. Looking for “something new to try”.

However, real transformation is created by small consistent actions repeated daily. Even if they feel boring…

So, keep moving forward and be patient. Be mindful of what is going on in your head. Don’t judge it. Just let it be and do what you intended to do anyway.

Whenever you feel like you’re getting off track- ground yourself by focusing on your vision.

Remind yourself of how far you have come.

Please note, my book is not designed as a quick fix. Nobody can “make you feel”more motivated.

It’s not about looking for motivation outside of yourself.

Real motivation comes from within. And your true motivation will be different than mine or someone else’s. But, one thing that will be the same is the PROCESS.

Through my book, Motivation in 7 Simple Steps, I teach the process that will help you re-connect with your vision and keep going even if you have a bad, or “unmotivated” day.

The steps are indeed very simple. And, if you apply them, I am very positive you will change your relationship with motivation. You will get in motion, you will transform your self-image, and so taking action will feel normal to you.

And, most importantly, you will know what to focus on. What makes you excited and what aligns with your vision and goals.

The 7 steps are designed to improve all areas of your life. It all starts with health, balance and sustainable energy. But it doesn’t end there.

So, if you would like to expand on what you have read in this post, and dive deeper by actually going through my entire 7 step process, I warmly invite you to check out my book Motivation in 7 Simple Steps on Amazon.

Until next time,

Stay strong,

Marta
