You can check your rate and current tip count in the bottom right corner of your screen. If you cause too many collisions or incidents with your customer in the Taxi, your tips will eventually end up at $0. This means that you will only be paid the fare for the ride.
Keep going as long as you can. The more clients you treat back to back, the more your salary will increase in one go. If you leave the Taxi job and then return, the salary increase will be reset.
