Where your special day becomes a fairytail

Chloe and Adam chose to celebrate their love and get married at Thornton Hall Hotel after falling in love with the venue and the grounds, especially the pagoda!

Chloe and Adam met in 2016 on a blind date in Liverpool after being set up by a mutual friend. They chose to celebrate their love and get married at Thornton Hall Hotel after falling in love with the venue and the grounds, especially the pagoda!

We ask Chloe and Adam to share their wedding story below,

Who proposed to who?

Adam proposed to me in 2022, his Mum sadly passed away just after we met and there is a memorial bench in her honour at Thurstaston Common. We’d gone for a walk and to sit on the bench and admire the views when Adam got down on one knee and popped the question. The bench was always special but is now even more so.

What drew you to Thornton Hall Hotel?

We loved the grounds of Thornton Hall, especially the pagoda and knew we would love to get married there (weather permitting!). But we also loved the feel of the venue overall and the indoor spaces were lovely too. The features in the Cristal Suite such as the chandeliers and mirrored walls were exactly the look I envisioned for my wedding day.

What was your colour and theme at Thornton Hall Hotel?

We chose blush pink as the colour theme with notes of white and green. Blush pink is my favourite colour and I personally think it is timeless for a wedding colour palette, feminine for the girls bridesmaid dresses but also isn’t too harsh against dark colours of suits.

Did you follow this colour theme through to your wedding flowers?

We opted for a combination of white and dusty pink roses for the main flowers of the bouquet. Roses are classic and were also Adam’s Mum’s favourite flowers. Amelia Jane Flowers was our florist we were amazed by our flowers and would highly recommend Amelia for any couple looking!

What drew you to your suits and dress?

Chloe - My wedding dress was the first one I tried on at Wed2Be and nothing after came close! It was also the only dress that made my Mum cry. I loved the detailing of the lace and sequins but felt it was the perfect balance with the rest of the fabric, and the V-shaped back with the buttons was beautiful. Of course I had to pair the dress with a belt to add some sparkle! My dress made me feel beautiful, but I also felt like myself, not pretending to be something I’m not. To summarise, it was just “me”.

Adam - It was the one in the window at Slaters! Quick try on, job done, in the pub half an hour later

What was the most memorable moment from your day?

There are so many memories to pick from! I think most memorable would be having our portrait photos taken. It was lovely to step away and reflect on the day with each other and enjoy being in each others company, all while having our amazing photographers capture those moments between us.

What was your favourite moment at Thornton Hall Hotel?

Second to the ceremony and saying our vows, my favourite moment was our first dance. I’ll never forget looking into Adam’s eyes thinking about how proud I was of us and how much we’d accomplished to get to that point, I had butterflies the entire time and just felt so happy in that moment, and excited for the party to begin!

What, if anything, would you change?

I wouldn’t change a thing. The day was amazing and so special, everything went off without a hitch and I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day. It was everything I hoped for and more!

What advice would you share with a couple planning their wedding?

Do your research and be open with each other about your wants and needs. Planning is only as stressful as you make it, but don’t be afraid to ask for help from anyone who will offer it!
