What is weight loss?

What is weight loss?

Weight loss is the change in our body’s size or weight, due to change in your caloric intake. In general terms, we lose weight when we cut Calories, and gain it back a few days later.

What causes weight loss?

1/ Calorie deficit: When we eat more than we should because the amount of food we eat doesn’t match the amounts of Energy and nutrients our bodies need. This may lead to loss of lean body mass, especially for those who are underweight. 2/ Energy imbalance: If you consume fewer calories than you burn, then you have less energy to spare compared to how many calories you’re burning each day, you are then experiencing calorie imbalance. 3/ Change in metabolism: Your metabolism is the process by which fat is converted into energy for use by the body. A person’s metabolism can change due to illnesses such as diabetes, which means that your body burns a lower percentage of its fat when compared to how much it's should, leading to excess weight. 4/ Stress: Many people experience stressful life situations due to illness, work, family, finances, and other personal issues. These things can cause a person's body's metabolism to slow down in order to conserve energy and help manage stress. 5/ Eating too much: Too much can lead to obesity because many people tend to overeat, consuming more calories than they should. 6/ Exercise resistance training: Resistance training burns more calories than cardio, while at the same time it can be used for fat loss instead of muscle growth. 7/ Excess alcohol consumption: Alcohol is not good for any purpose but to make someone feel great. 8/ Taking medications: Medication also helps improve blood sugar control and helps regulate appetite. Weight loss comes with risks and needs to be done only if you can do it on your own. This will cost a lot of money, so the best course of action to take is asking a professional if you can follow their advice to get the extra body and help your health.

Benefits of losing weight

1/ Lose unwanted weight: Obesity often leads to excess weight; however, when you’re too heavy, this weight you don’t want comes back once again and makes you lose more money. Therefore, you can successfully reduce weight without starving yourself or needing to stop having fun. 2/ Decrease your risk of many diseases: People nowadays tend to take medicines because they’ve been diagnosed with some illnesses that can help them live longer. However, it is recommended to know that taking medicine might actually cause your weight to increase, in order to avoid using unnecessary drugs. Also, medicines often contain antibiotics and toxins that can affect your kidneys and cause kidney stones. 3/ Take care of your health: Instead of taking medicines to treat disease, look after your health instead. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. Try doing aerobic exercises like walking or cycling. Don’t overdo it, because once done, you need to do it again. Do yoga classes or meditation practices to give your mind a rest too. Don’t forget about sleep—too little sleep or too much sleep can cause weight gain. 4/ improve your immune system: It might sound strange but working out your body can actually improve your ability to fight off diseases like heart attacks, type 2 diabetes, etc. 5/ Feeling strong: You can see results instantly after exercising; however, you must have enough time to recover and keep going before the benefits begin. 6/ Strong bones: Your bone mass effects if you’re overweight. So, if you’re overweight, it doesn’t mean that you need to take medication or even put supplements to maintain bone mass, you can still keep getting stronger.

The number of people suffering from obesity has increased, especially among middle-aged men, especially men over 65 years old. The main reason is that it's not just the excess body weight, it's mostly the unhealthy lifestyle. There are lots of reasons why this is happening now: For example, the average American man spends $2,400 just eating, according to the CDC, and most of these men over 65 years old drink a glass or two of red wine every night. And they cannot even control what they do to eat. Most of their time is spent on TV and social media. They do not spend much time looking at the real nutrition facts that show these products. Some say that there is no need to eat fast food because most of the time, they are made with corn. But the truth is, one meal can ruin your whole week! It is important to control what you cook and how often you cook it. Not only does it have nutritional values, it also includes fiber, antioxidants and vitamins such as B complex. That's why one important thing to do is to think about the right proportions and make sure to include fresh vegetables that you can prepare yourself in advance and choose healthier foods, even though it is easier and cheaper to go to a store to buy the ingredients.

To sum up, it is very simple to become obese. We can learn it too; try keeping a diary, do not worry about what others think, and always try to control what you're cooking.
