Ricci writes, “Hindi tayo magtatago dahil walang dapat ikahiya”
After months of speculation, basketball player Ricci Rivero has finally publicized his romance with beauty queen-turned-politician Leren Mae Bautista.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the 25-year-old athlete uploaded a series of photos on Instagram.
One of the photos features the city councilor of Los Baños at the back of a car enjoying sunset, while another photo shows their hands intimately intertwined.

In an outright confirmation of their romance, Ricci writes, “To the girl who I see as a real QUEEN. With all the wrongs hounding me, I’m blessed to have found the right one. Allow me to shield you from things you don’t deserve.
“Hindi tayo magtatago dahil walang dapat ikahiya. Walang nang agaw at walang inagaw. Walang bibitaw dahil masaya tayong magkahawak kamay.”
While admiring Leren for her willingness to “help and care for people,” Ricci also alludes to the constant bashing that constantly tails the former beauty queen.
With that, he vows, “I will be with you in inspiring people to always be better. Thank you for being so selfless and simple.
“I promise to never again live a life manipulated by someone’s fantasy. This is our story, hindi dapat iba ang mag kwento ng storya nating dalawa!”

Before the confirmation, Ricci and Leren were initially seen jogging together at the freedom park of the University of the Philippines, Los Baños campus. On top of that, the rumors were fanned more intensely after they were spotted at a mall while checking out stuffed toys.

Ricci’s romance with Leren is tainted by speculations of infidelity. Such a notion followed after the basketball player broke up with then-girlfriend Andrea Brillantes in May 2023.

The breakup, which Ricci confirmed in June, points to a certain “konsehala” as the reason behind the split.
Adding to this is Andrea’s written confessional with DJ Jhai Ho, revealing that she has seen a naked woman at the athlete’s place.
Ricci, however, has belied this claim in an interview with Boy Abunda in June and says that the woman that Andrea saw was “not his.”
He adds that Andrea had admitted to her lapse in judgment, and such prompted them to part ways without grudge.
The ex-lovers started dating in April 2022, when Ricci asked Andrea to be official during a UAAP face-off. After a year of romance, they decided to part ways in May 2023.
