FAR MORE GRAVE : 30-year-old Everton player could now be out for much longer than expected….

Andre Gomes’ injury could be much more serious than Everton predict.

According to injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, Sean Dyche may have downplayed what he claimed was simply a “calf strain” for Gomes.
The midfielder’s future at Everton looks uncertain after returning from his loan spell at Lille.

Gomes, the highest earner at Goodison Park, was said to have intended to move to Türkiye but ended up staying on Merseyside.
Dyche is yet to return Gomes to the first team and he has not featured for the Toffees since May 2022, although it now appears he will have to wait even longer to return. Dyche recently said Gomes’ absence was due to a calf strain, but Brar suggested otherwise.
Speaking to Goodison News, Dr. Rajpal Brar said:
“Based on not playing this season, unless it’s a purely managerial decision, it looks like an obvious injury rather than just a tight calf.

“Calf injuries are also very fragile and susceptible to re-injury.

“The other thing to consider is that ‘calf’ can refer to the entire calf complex, including structures like the much more serious Achilles.”
Will Andre Gomes play for Everton this season?
Andre Gomes could have started for Everton in today’s Carabao Cup clash with Aston Villa had he been fit, and Dyche is said to be eager to welcome him back to the team. The 30-year-old has been dropped from the team, but it would be a foolish idea to continue paying him his huge salary and not take advantage of his talent.

Everton have limited options in midfield following Alex Iwobi’s move to Fulham and Gomes will be desperate to return to full fitness soon so he can try to work his way back up the table.
