Can standing more help you lose weight?

How to stand more during the day

There are a number of different ways to achieve this, some of which are more self-explanatory (and obvious) than others. Here are a few things you can try.

  • Set reminders on your phone to prompt you to get up from your desk or sofa and have a walk around.
  • If you use public transport, spend some or all of the journey standing instead of sitting.
  • Spend more time outside in the evenings. When the weather’s nice enough, go for a walk and enjoy the fresh air instead of watching Netflix - your favourite series will still be there when you get back!
  • Stand up while you’re working instead of sitting all day. If you have an office job, a sit-stand desk is perfect for this.
