Behind the Scenes: The Creation of Our New Website

If you’re new to Back Care Online, one of the first things that might have struck you is just how Clear, easy to use and attractive our website is. We’re very proud of it! But it didn’t always look quite this good.

When we first set up Shop in 2020, we did so with a more generic-looking site. It served its purpose and got us off the ground, but we were soon ready for something a little more ‘us’ - and there were a number of shortcomings with the old site that needed addressing.

Out with the old…

As a fast-growing business, it didn’t take long before we’d outgrown the old site. As more and more products were added, its limitations became more apparent. For starters, it wasn’t easy enough for customers to find what they were looking for. The menu system to select product categories was a little clunky and unintuitive, which - so analytics data told us - was sometimes deterring customers from buying our products. 

It was lacking in functionality, too. There was no simple, straightforward way for customers to make a return, which meant back and forth emails and a tonne of unnecessary admin - not ideal when we were already so busy!

The content needed a spruce up, too. We wanted to add more in-depth information and FAQs to help people get the answers they were looking for, allowing them to buy with confidence - and to help our products reach the higher positions in search engine results. 

We took all this to Echo, and here’s what they came up with.

The team at Echo built us an entirely new website from the ground up, customised to accommodate our every need. Highlights of the work done on this very site include:

  • Completely overhauled, ultra-modern design and a fresh logo

  • Much-improved functionality, with intuitive navigation

  • An effortless returns system to make life easier for customers (and us!)

  • Improved and expanded content across the entire website

  • New product page layout, incorporating better images, reviews, FAQs, clear product USPs and more

  • New category page layout, featuring best sellers, filters, star ratings, sort order options and new subcategories

On top of all this, the site was optimised much better for mobiles, which is where so many of us now choose to shop. Modern, intuitive and much better to look at, the new site has helped us take Back Care Online to new heights. 

Ongoing development

We’re continuing to work with Echo to develop and refine the site. Besides providing us with ongoing technical support and fixing any issues as they crop up, the team there has continued to write new content for us (both for our blog and category pages) and make tweaks to improve the experience for our valued customers.
