11 Quarantine Self-Care Rituals for at-Home Happiness

Quarantine self-care has been a central part of my daily routine lately. Like so many people right now I have been stuck home for weeks, and it looks like being home is something that will be a huge part of my life for the foreseeable future. I have been trying to stay motivated throughout my day and also with my writing. Many of the topics I have written about lately have been centered around this pandemic. And although I have been trying to find new and exciting topics to write, I keep coming back to this. How can I not when quarantine, social distancing and self-isolation have been so central in my life? The first few weeks of self-isolation was difficult. With so much stress and anxiety, I tried a lot of different things to keep my motivation and mental health strong. There are simple quarantine self-care rituals that have been not only keeping my mind off the stress and worry. They have also been a great source of joy and positive energy throughout my day. Doing one of these rituals daily has been really adding to my new normal life. If you have been feeling worried and stressed try these quarantine self-care rituals for a little extra self-love throughout your day. Reading and Naps My most enjoyed quarantine self-care ritual has to be reading and a good afternoon nap. It may not be the most glamourous but it certainly feels great to relax and recharge. How often do you get to nap during the week during our regular routines? Books are a wonderful way to escape and now more than ever we can all use a happy escape. Check out my recent post of whimsical books, or the 2020 spring summer releases coming to get you in the reading mood. Yoga and Meditation Taking care of our bodies and minds is so important right now. With stress, anxiety, and worry becoming a huge part of the global consciousness we all need to be diligent in taking care of our own mental health needs. Yoga is a wonderful way to get your body moving and connect with your body and mind. After you do a yoga session take 10 extra minutes to do a little meditation. Sitting with your breath has always been the most effective way to practice mindfulness. Cleanse and Clean We are all spending so much time at home so there is really no better time to clean and declutter. Try removing some of these items from your home to recharge your space. When you are done cleaning try cleansing your space with incense, houseplants, crystals, or even opening a window on a sunny day. Simply allowing fresh air in and cleansing your space can bring this quarantine self-care ritual to the next level. Nature and Journal If you are lucky enough to be able to enjoy nature while still under quarentine or social distancing then make it a point to get out and enjoy it. Simply a walk through the park or sitting by a river or in the grass can really rechagre your soul. Take your journal with you or begin to journal as soon as you get home. Nature and journaling are the perfect quarantine self-care practice because being outside with nature can really connect us with our thoughts. And journaling is a wonderful way to detox our minds. Simplify and Minimize In my book The Year of Simple Living, I talk about the benefits of simple living and how it can improve your sense of overall wellbeing. Simple living is a way to help you eliminate unnecessary stresses from your life. By living more simply you can better live a life that suits you instead of constantly trying to fit your life into a box of obligations. Keeping up with the jones is such a huge source of anxiety for people this day and age and simplifying our needs, routines, and perspectives is a great way to form the life you really want that suits you. With less anxiety. Or download The Best You- Simple Living and Wellness Diary to help you embrace healthy self-reflection. Craft and Create Crafts can be a wonderful way to get your mind off of all the doom and gloom of the world. Additionally, a great quarantine self-care ritual is to get your creative juices flowing by creating. Blogging, writing, drawing, painting, bullet journaling. Get creative and create something just for you. Bake and Cook If you are someone who generally enjoys baking then spending a night at home baking something yummy is a great way to pass the time. Even if you are not a huge baker why not give it a try? Browse Pinterest for some ideas that inspire you. Or have a romantic night in with your partner, kids or yourself and cook something delicious. Try making multiple courses and keep the deliciousness going all night long. Wine and Video Chat If you don’t drink wine just grab your favorite beverage of choice. Call up your best friend and enjoy a night together. Self-care isn’t always about being alone, sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to connect with the ones you love. Movies and Snacks So many people are indulging in streaming services right now and there are lots of great shows to choose from. I have really been loving, Celebrity Ghost stories, Upload, Good Owens, and Wonder. Indulge yourself with your favorite snacks, and movies. Plants and Crystals Healing crystals are naturally occurring stones that are created organically from the many different elements of the Earth. They take thousands of years to form and their beauty is often undeniable. Humans have long used healing crystals and gemstones as objects for enhancing manifestation, to display power, and connect with the elements of the Earth. Try recharging some crystals or repotting your houseplants for a great quarantine self-care afternoon.
