dotmailer pledges continued Croydon investment

On Wednesday 23rd November, a team from dotmailer attended the Croydon Economic Summit 2016. The talking points were the regeneration and growth plans for the area, and the Croydon Good Employer charter; an initiative led by Counseller Jamie Audsley, and co-developed by our HR Director, David Aldrich. The charter prioritizes local employers’ commitment to four key principles:

  • fair pay
  • employ local
  • employ inclusively
  • buy local.

dotmailer were keen to attend and pledge our support, especially seeing as our technology office has been in Croydon since 2002. David has been working closely with a number of local organizations and employers, including Croydon Council and Ikea. He spoke on a panel of key local players, sharing the stage with London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, and his new Night Czar, Amy Lamé, who gave her first speech in her new role. Mr Khan described Croydon as crucial to the economic and cultural success of the capital, and highlighted its prime position as a key technology hub.

The Summit was part of a wider collection of events, Croydon’s Congress, which brings together leaders from the public, business, community, faith and voluntary sectors that play key roles in shaping the borough’s future success.

A host of other crucial topics were discussed, including the current regeneration and growth activities in motion (and the benefits to local residents and businesses), and the importance of the night economy to the borough.

A discussion point, which feels very close to our hearts, was the crucial role of tech employers. It was great to see an acknowledgement of the part that such companies play in supporting the Croydon economy. Other local employers in attendance included Ikea, the Body Shop, Boxpark, the NHS and Gatwick airport.

It’s been fantastic to have a hand in forming the Croydon Economic charter and, as a company, we couldn’t be prouder to show our commitment. We pledge to continue working to develop and adopt the charter, and to drive adoption across the borough.
