Bad days

The problem with a sick child in public:

1. Talks loudly

2. Traumatising tantrums

3. Child itself.

I took Ms.S. to the polyclinic, she has been unwell for a few days.

The buses here have seats reserved for the Elderly, special needs, etc., as you enter.

I stood on the side with the pram and asked her to sit on one of those seats as they were empty. She reluctantly sat and spoke,

”tch, I don’t want to sit here. I don’t like old people.”

I’m not sure if fellow old folks heard her golden words and looked at me with dying love or cursing eyes.

I replied in a highly audible manner with a fake laugh, ” but there are no other old people, so u can sit here. It’s ok.”

While waiting in the queue to see the doctor, an elderly Uncle came and sat across, his speech was hoarse maybe due to a sore throat or just age.

Ms.S: ”why is that old uncle talking like boogeyman?” (pointing her finger straight at the victim)

Me: ”how many times have I told you not to point at ppl.” I whispered.

Ms.S has learnt well the art of eye gestures. Just that they are dramatic and absolutely evident. So she repeated the same sentence, loudly with her eyes.

——-

As we passed through a couple of ppl she gently gestured in the most humble manner, yet again to an undeserving human prey,

”mummy that uncle is digging his nose and playing with the boogie.”

I walked past like a deaf and blind soul. I won’t blame my parenting product. Let’s just call this a defective day.
