Being 32

It’s taken me 32 damn years to finally realize that life is for living, family is for loving, health is for preserving and fun is for having. If you are younger than 32, please read on as I tell it to you like it is. As Robbie Williams told us in his festive years, youth is wasted on the young. I finally have given up giving any fucks and I truly am having the best time. These are my opinions. The joy of opinions is we all get to have them, and use them to make the best decisions for ourselves. The problem with all the “free” Opinion space the interweb gives us  is that it comes with the connotation of judging those with different agendas to our own, instead of using them to understand, empathise and making your own fucking mind up.

Here is the no bullshit Shit I have learned thus far. Please feel free not to agree.

RELIGION

  1. You don’t need to attend a church service to feel close to your God
  1. You control your own life. God did not bless you with your new car/job/husband. If he did, then he is seriously overlooking some important shit that needs doing in Somalia.
  1. Some people are born different, everyone can love, worship and live the way they want.
  1. There is something not quite right about mega churches, Pastors that did not attend pastor school, hipster Jesus coffee, and flower wreaths.

KIDS

  1. You do not need to have party packs at your toddler’s birthday party.
  1. If you do not feel comfortable vaccinating your children, and are not just too lazy to, do not vaccinate. You do not need to apologize for this. If you do vaccinate. Vaccinate. You do not need to worry about your kid dying of measles from an unvaxxed kid. Feed your kid some veggies.
  1. There are larger issues in the world than your babies foreskin, but if you don’t want to cut it off, don’t. He may choose to do it later and it may not be pretty, but it seems easier than re attaching a foreskin to a grown penis. If you are worried about HIV and hygiene issues, teach him how to use a bar of soap and a condom.
  1. Stop judging other parents for their choices. Wouldn’t it be nice to think that most parents are doing what they feel is best for THEIR kid. LOVED is best.
  1. Stop reading parenting books, stop worrying about your kids. Love them and let them see you loved, content and kind.
  1. You do not need to share the same views on all topics in order to be friends with someone. 2 years ago I was on the other side of the fence on vaccines and foreskins. I still have the same friends.
  1. It’s ok to lose your shit. It means you are present. ALOT.
  1. Dads are equal to mom.

LOVE

  1. Have good sex
  1. Learn to take compliments
  1. Be who you are.
  1. Apologise when you need to. Mean it

MONEY

  1. You do not need a conventional job, you do not need to constantly work. Life is bigger than your bank balance.
  2.   Do not be proud, do not be lazy.  Ambition is the best thing you can show your children.
  1. Travel is the only thing worth spending your savings on.

LIFE

21. Let go of the guilt. If you can’t let go, face your fucking issues. You are 32.

22. make time for your parents/grandparents. listen to their life stories

23. life is too short to spend it any other way than the way you  want to

24.Laugh at yourself

  • Do not worry that there is no number 18 to your philosophical life rant.

There we go.
