Controls

Most of the Samsung robotic vacuums have Wi-Fi capabilities, LED Displays, and onboard touch screen buttons. Some can be controlled remotely by Android apps like Alexa from Amazon or Google assistant. They all respond to voice commands.

Brushes

All Samsung robotic vacuums are equipped with brush rolls which are specific to a certain model. These brush rolls have bristles that thoroughly clean the floor. In brief, there are three brush rolls designs in most Samsung powerbots. One is the combo brush which has three bristles. I also saw some self-cleaning brush rolls in the R9000 models. The brushes get the job done. Lastly, the edge clean master brush, it’s common in almost all Samsung powerbots.

Battery

In most Samsung models that we’ve reviewed, the battery had run-times of 1-1 ½ hours. They all came equipped with 21.6 Lithium-ion batteries. The recharge time is an average of 4 hours in all models.

Height

You can easily bypass this feature but the height of your Samsung robotic vacuum is important. For me, I hate moving furniture like the sofa when am vacuuming. That’s why I purchased a low profile Samsung powerbot like the R7040. I can vacuum under the furniture without bending. It becomes less of a hassle. Most Samsung powerbot have an average height of 4 inches. Pick the height that suits you. If you don’t need to vacuum hidden places, or you have less furniture, then the height of your Samsung powerbot is of no concern.

Individual Samsung POWERbot Review

We reviewed six Samsung robotic vacuum models, and this information will help you find the right robotic vacuum cleaner that suits your specific needs.

#1. Samsung POWERbot R7040

Samsung dubbed the R7040 model as twenty times more powerful than other robotic cleaners, they based their arguments on the Cyclone Force Technology which we will be talking about.

Suction

The R7040 uses the Cyclone Force Technology which enables the machine to separate debris from dust during the vacuuming process. This feature prevents the clogging of filters increasing its overall lifespan. We liked its ability to sense crevices and corners, and the R7040 stretches out its brushes to suck up dirt in hard to reach areas. This feature is specific to the R7040.

The R7040 has sensors that control the suction setting according to the surface being vacuumed. We found this feature convenient when transitioning from carpet to hardwood.

Controls

You have the option of creating schedules for the R7040 using Amazon Echo remotely. This app can control its movement around your house, making it convenient for those who follow a specific pattern when vacuuming the house. These sensors make it create maps of your house.

Brushes

It comes with a large brush that enables it to clean a large section at a given time. The brush bristles are important when loosening embedded dirt in your carpet.

Battery

The only setback was the battery, it lasted 50 minutes. Considering the powerful suction ability, the run-time is justifiable. Samsung can make it up by equipping it with high capacity batteries.

Things we liked

• It uses the cyclone force technology which separates dirt from debris preventing clogging
• It can sense corners when cleaning
• Wide brushes for cleaning large floors
• You can control it remotely using Amazon Echo on your phone
• It comes with easy pass wheels to aid in movement

Things we didn’t like

• The battery run-time is short; you can purchase high capacity batteries for your POWERbot

#2. Samsung POWERbot R7065

In terms of the design, the R7065’s camera faces upwards with a digital display in addition to the humanoid-shaped head makes it look like a real robot. We found this robotic vacuum convenient and very efficient. Here are the features.

Suction

There are three suction levels that you can choose from: normal, turbo, and quiet with four cleaning modes. We loved the automatic mode during suction, as its sensors and the main camera make it navigate easily around obstacles and even stairways. If it tries unsuccessfully to roll over obstacles like shoes in its path, the R7065 backs off and finds another route.

Control

We found three ways to control our R7065; one is a smartphone app like Alexa. Secondly, you can either use the remote control or on-board control. Lastly, you can use voice commands on Google assistant. The smartphone app was the best but had one setback, it doesn’t warn you when the bin is nearly full. The good news is that the bin pops out when full. The app also provides the cleaning statistics like duration of cleaning and the date.

Brushes

It comes with combo brushes which does a fantastic job while cleaning your floor. We found the extendable shutter very effective during cleaning as it grabs dust and debris in crevices and also along baseboards.

Battery

We pressed the repeat clean setting option, which makes the robotic vacuum clean continuously till the battery drains. The run-time was one hour 11 minutes. The battery capacity is good.

Things we liked

• It leaves all the floors dust-free
• Can be controlled remotely using voice commands in Google Assistant and Alexa
• Navigates the house using directional patterns
• It has a height of 3.8 inches, suitable for cleaning crevices and corners
• It fully charges within 2 hours

Things we didn’t like

• Louder than most Powerbots we’ve reviewed
• The app did not give a warning when the bin was full

#3. Samsung POWERbot R7070

From its dimensions of 13.7-inch thickness and 3.8 inches height, the R7070 is bulkier than most Samsung robotic vacuums. The bulkiest robotic vacuum we’ve tested is the Neato Botvac robotic vacuum. Here is a breakdown of its features.

Suction

One amazing feature of the R7070 is its ability to increase suction powers it transitions from hardwood, carpet and open floors through its sensors. The suction power is even greater around crevices and corner to suck up the smallest dust and debris left. If it encounters anything unsuckable on its path, it would sound an alarm for you to rescue it. Use the three buttons on the top to control suction.

Control

The good thing about automation is that you can schedule stuff and wait for the robot to deliver. The R7070 integrates well with Samsung flagship app SmartThings Ecosystem. You can also remotely control the R7070 using Google assistant and Amazon Alexa.

Brushes

The R7070 comes with unique self-cleaning brushes that are equipped with scrappers; these scrappers can cut tangled hair that might have tied the bristles when vacuuming carpets or near clothing. This feature increases the lifespan of the R7070.

Battery

During our testing, the battery lasted one hour with the spot cleaning mode on the robotic vacuum. The only setback is that the R7070 doesn’t dock automatically. You have to press the dock button.

Things we liked

• The self-cleaning brush comes with scrappers that can cut tangled hair or fur
• It comes with a 0.7-liter dustbin, larger than most robotic vacuums we’ve tested
• The filter is washable
• It navigates well around your furniture during cleaning
• It comes with magnetic tape to cordon off certain spots in your house

Things we didn’t like

• The R7070 cannot navigate around an obstacle; instead, it sounds an alert when stuck

#4. Samsung POWERbot R7260

For those of you who have pets indoors, then we highly recommend this robotic vacuum. It cleans surfaces with pet hair more effectively than other robotic vacuums we’ve tested.

Suction

The R7260 packs a massive 40X powerful suction, which sucks up almost everything in its path without losing performance. Navigation during suction is aided by a FullView sensor 2.0 which helps it avoid obstacles in its path. This feature is in sharp contrast with other robotic cleaners which use the bump sensor after hitting obstacles.

Controls

Download the Samsung SmartThings app, and then create an account before logging the R7260 to your Wi-Fi for connection. The whole process takes only 5 minutes. You can now schedule cleaning while you are away or at home. The auto-cleaning schedule worked great for us, you should try it. A good feature worth discussing here is the point cleaning, here you point a red laser to a certain spot, and the robot will follow the direction of the red laser while cleaning. We liked this feature the most.

Brushes

The brushes in the R7260 are full-width cleaning brushes, which gives you a spotless clean on your carpet or floors. Around corners and crevices, the R7260 is equipped with an extendable rubber blade which cleans the hard to reach areas.

Battery

The battery run-time was an impressive 90 minutes per charge, which is good for a robotic cleaner its size. This runtime heavily depends on the mode.

Things we liked

• The battery life is impressive
• It navigates obstacles well thanks to the FullView sensor 2.0 cameras
• It comes with 40X Powerful suction for effective cleaning of pet hair
• The point cleaning feature is great for spot cleaning
• The navigation and mapping feature creates a floor plan that ensures efficient cleaning

Things we didn’t like

• The dustbin size could be improved to shorten the emptying cycle

If you have a large floor, or you are looking for a robotic vacuum that can handle large amounts of dirt, or maybe you want a vacuum cleaner that can be controlled wirelessly via Android apps. Then you should get yourself a Samsung Powerbot R9250 model. This model rivals the R7090, and according to me, they are among the best powerbot models by Samsung. What are its features?

Suction

The R9250 comes with great suction capabilities; the suction power is capped at 50 watts! This suction power gives you the best connectivity and cleaning ability. That’s why it can handle large amounts of dirt on your floor.

Controls

You can connect it to your home Wi-Fi and sync the controls via an app like Alexa from Amazon and it works well. The response time is good, plus you can use Google Assistant for voice commands remotely.

Brushes

The Samsung POWERbot R9250 comes with Combo Brush roll technology that ensures all corners of your floor are thoroughly cleaned. The rotating motions of the bristles were good for loosening any dirt on your carpet or floor before suction. Interestingly, these combo bristles were able to suck in pet fur and also human hair without any tangling. 

Battery

The battery run-time was impressive, it lasted almost 1 ½ hour. We almost cleaned the entire house with a single charge during our testing. Another advantage is that it docks automatically for recharge and resumes work afterward.

The only setback is that due to its high suction power, you should not operate it near toys, clothing and any other big objects that might be sucked inside the POWERbot vacuum.
