A Saturday Mishmash

This morning we thought we'd get out and enjoy the cooler temps. Today is 77 degrees and tomorrow we might see some rain. Just 6 miles is the town of Shasta. Around here, everyone calls it, Old Shasta because we also have the town of Lake Shasta so people new to the area need clarification.

Off the roadside are the ruins of a once vibrant mining town.

I love these iron doors -

We walked around. We're there many times in the year. Today they had button-making and blacksmith demonstrations, and I had 2 pieces of wood, branded. They had cornhusk dolls they were inviting others to make, but I got sidetracked and forgot about it.

We Left there, went out for lunch, and came home. I fell asleep on the couch.

Came out to the backyard to sit -

Those native fuchsias are bursting with blooms - the hummingbirds love them.

We're thinking about getting some more at the California Native Nursery at Turtle Bay. It takes them a full year before you start to see any development.

The bees sure like these sunflowers...

I thought this was interesting - how they look after they've been picked over...
Here's where all the seeds are resting. Soon the birds will start pecking at them.

The sunflowers were covered with bees - no butterflies this time. I did see a moth and a spider - We have mostly the Italian honey bees in this area. They are docile and produce a lot of honey.

Since we ate a late lunch, dinner tonight is whatever - each man for himself.

So what else is going on?

🦃Talked to my DIL, Sara and this year I'm doing Thanksgiving here. It is also Foodie's birthday.

👍Watched the movie, Golda. Helen Mirren did an amazing job, but I like the real Golda Meir. Ironically it is about the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

💪My left shoulder/arm has been bothering me - I have a torn Rotator Cuff that I was hoping I would not have to get surgery. I haven't caved yet - I need to do those exercises my physical therapist had me doing - they worked before. If I can't use my left arm/shoulder, what good am I? That's why I had my knee replacement 5 years ago - I couldn't walk very well. Now I can. Same with the rotator cuff surgery I had on my right side, almost 2 years ago - being right-handed, I was good for nothing - now I can paint and cook without my husband helping me. However, due to the left one, I'm having to ask for help. I just have to make the decision and getter done so I can have my life back. I'll be 70 in March.

🙋Tomorrow is my turn to be a greeter at church.

🙏My Bible study at BSF is going well. This Wednesday we're having a fellowship before we start the study.

👉I will start back to decorating the kitchen and dining area, tomorrow or Monday. I'm really enjoying my new and improved update on my living room. I am looking around and seeing other things I want to "improve upon." but it all has to wait till after the new year.

That's it for me -  Take Care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
