Coconut chutney

Ingredients

  • Coconuts shredded - 2cups
  • Red chillies - 5
  • curry leaves - 1 spring
  • A large pinch of hing (asoefetida)
  • Methi(fenugreek) seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 2tsp
  • channa dhal - 2tsp
  • Tamarind - amla size
  • Salt to taste
Method
  1. Heat some oil and add the dhals, curry leaves, hing, methi and red chillies.
  2. Fry till done.
  3. Add this to the coconut and tamarind and blend into a smooth paste.
  4. And finally add salt to taste.
Goes well with dosas, idli and plain rice.
